Of the various dinosaur based pokegirls, none can claim to be as intimidating as the Zahngeist, a breed containing the DNA of various large Theropod dinosaurs. Able to take on the forms of their animal base, this dark ghost pokegirl breed was typically used in combat with the added intimidation effect. In modern times, the breed is often found in a variety of combat and security service roles. Occasionally, the breed is put to other creative uses, such as tracking via smell or as a very novel mount.

Zahngeists tend to be tall pokegirls, averaging 6 feet (1.8 meters) though individuals may be as short as 5.5 feet (1.67 meters) or as tall as 7 feet (2.13 meters). Most have an athletic build, though this varies between lithe and robust body builds. The breed runs the a typical bell curve between human appearing and animorphic, typically all members of the breed have a tail, scales for skin (which are smoother ventrally than dorsally) and some form of ridging, usually small eye ridges, though this can be as elaborate as crown-like ridges, Mohawk-like spines, or (common to spinosaurus based individuals) a small fleshy sail extending from the base of the neck to the tail-head. Scale coloration can be a variety of dark colors, usually falling into human norms on the ventral side with blacks, dark greys, and other 'night camouflage' colors common for the dorsal side.

The battle form of the breed is an intimidating sight, as most battle forms are 10 feet (3 meters) at the shortest, with the tallest measuring 13 feet (4 meters) in height and are often scaled down replicas of the biggest Theropod dinosaurs. The most common species represented are the Gigantosaur, Spinosaurus, Tryannosaurus Rex, and Carcharodontosaurus, with Allosaurus making the top five most represented species. Most often, the battle form stands around the middle of the two extremes of height, with a large head, small arms, and thick powerful legs. The tail often acts as a counterbalance for the weight of the body, with colors of the scales typically being black or shades of dark colors.

The most common personality trait attributed to the breed is an aggressive nature, with inquisitive coming in a close second. Most often, the breed can be used as a physical trainer, though other breeds tend to excel more at this profession, particularly the Dragon Queen. The Alpha position is often a question of the Tamer's personal style, as Tamers who prefer their Alpha to be the most powerful will find the breed desirable, though individuals vary at other tasks, meaning Tamers who use Alphas for more than fighting will have to explore a Zahngeist's abilities themselves.

In line with the breed's aggressive nature is their ability to fight. Typically the breed prefer close range fighting, and often explore various fighting styles if in a harem with a fighting type. This ghostly dinosaur pokegirl is known to use phase liberally during battle, often allowing combatants to sidestep attacks and allow them to get close to their foes. Electric types are the best counter for the breed, as many electric types have the speed and agility to keep the Zahngeist from closing, as well as their electrical attacks able to damage the breed while phased. Tamers should be wary though, as this breed knows ranged techniques as well, which can often shoot down evasive opponents.

Taming preferences vary for the breed, but tend towards a more active role. These dark dinosaur pokegirls are easily bedded without restraints or worry for clawing, as all are able to remain in control of their strength and extremities during taming. Typically, unintentional phasing is the most commonly reported taming accident with the breed, though this form of accident rarely injures either the tamer or pokegirl.

Ferals are very deadly hunters, and the larger ones have been known to devour whole harems along with their tamer. Some areas place bounties on ferals that have territories too close to human habitation or trade routes, prompting tamers to capture them. Caution is advised, as the breed is capable of using Invis on top of their camouflaging capabilities. Again, electric types are highly recommended to aid in battling the Zahngeist, as well as an aid in taming, as paralysis first locks the breed into their taming form before paralyzing them completely. Pokegirls capable of touching and/or seeing phased pokegirls are also recommended for battling, though due to the breed's territorial nature, it is often simply a matter of being in the territory while the feral is around to provoke an attack.

Threshold begins with heavy cravings for meat, especially raw. Fevers and phasing through objects typically follow, though body changes are painless. Threshold typically lasts an average of 9 days, with as few as four days for less drastic changes and as many as two weeks for more animorphic pokegirls. Threshold commences once the new pokegirl is capable of transforming into their battle form. Thresholders are typically sold or placed into ranches.
