In the beginning part of the Revenge War, before Sukebe had managed to create many pokegirls capable of teleportation, he had to have his troops rely on specialized pokegirls that were capable of conveying them across vast distances to where the next battle would be. Though he had flying types, and his tauric pokegirls, none could carry more than perhaps a few passengers at a time. That is, not until great birds were seen in the sky, like something out of a fantasy novel of the time, carrying a rather large number of pokegirls that would drop into a battle from above. When teleport-capable pokegirls became more common, they were used to get such pokegirls to safe teleportation points to set up strategic staging areas for the more specialized troops. For the most part, however, after teleporting pokegirls were 'born' and brought up to date, the Mikila became a part of the support structure for Sukebe's armies- though fairly tough, their great size in bird form left them as fairly simple targets for the human's flying weapons. After the war, the breed was practically never seen, especially after the last few hunts in 2 or 3 AS claimed the last lives of the gigantic birds that once flew the skies. Thought extinct for roughly two decades after that, a tamer managed to capture and tame a pokegirl that was originally thought to be a Rack of some sort. However, upon her first transformation into a great bird, researchers soon verified the existence of the Mikila breed of pokegirl. Not too long afterward, several of the breed were utilized to assist in creating a map of what remained of the world's landmasses.

The Mikila breed has two physical forms, and can change between the two almost instantly and at will. Their pokegirl form ranges in height within the standard human female averages, with a maximum height of roughly 2m (6.6ft). Though the breed is commonly lithe in overall build, threshold cases do tend to have larger curves than the typical Mikila, which do not detract from their flying capabilities at all due to the pokegirl's overall light weight. Their eye and hair colors tend to range the human norm, though also can be found in shades of purple, blue, and deep green as well. Such colors are believed to be a result of the blending of avian genetics with the pokegirl DNA to create the breed, though researchers believe this to be fairly unimportant to look into any further than such theories. What truly sets them apart, when in their Pokegirl form, is the pair of large wings that extend out from the pokegirl's back. Each wing is about twice the height of the pokegirl in length, with some individuals having up to two and a half times the pokegirl's height for the width of a single wing (which means that the wingspan can range between 6.4m (21.1ft) at the smallest and 10m (33ft) at the largest). The wings themselves are unlike any known pre-war avian in existence, however. The wings themselves are free-jointed, giving them an unprecedented movement for limbs that were likely originally designed to simply allow them to fly. This, combined with large finger-like ends to the wings that are simply skin-covered rather than covered with feathers, allow her to draw her wings directly behind herself or to allow the breed to wrap said wings around themselves as well. These large finger-like ends are complete with thumbs, and indeed, the furthest reaches of the wings themselves actually are hands. These wing-hands (as they are commonly called) allow the pokegirl to manipulate larger and heavier items with greater ease than the smaller hands on their human-like arms can. Their feather coloration differs per individual as well as the area of the world that the Mikila was born in, and only sometimes happen to match the color of the pokegirl's hair. Known feather colors are white, black, red, blue, green, yellow, and brown (in that order, most common to least common), though it is speculated that there might be other colors not yet seen.

Their bird form, however, is even larger. The pokegirl ceases to appear humanoid at all, and although stands at roughly the same height, looks like a huge avian from pre-war times. At a length that is roughly 2.5-2.8m (8.2-9.1ft; tail feathers make up a good half meter of the overall body length), one would certainly expect their wingspan to change in a similar manner- and it does. The wingspan alone increases to roughly twice the overall wingspan of their pokegirl form (making the bird form's wingspan out to be from 12.8-20m, or 42-66ft). A Mikila in this form can kneel down to stand only half as high, fortunately, and their wings retain their free-jointed nature, which makes them still able to manipulate objects with her wing-arms as needed. The pokegirl's feet change to that of a webbed-talons, though the talons are not very sharp, making them unreliable weapons for drawing blood in any kind of battle. Unlike their pokegirl form, the avian form does have a bird-like beak. They are commonly short, dull, somewhat curved beaks reminiscent of what was known as a 'goose' , though some also have bills like that of brids known as 'ducks.' Far more rare are the elongated, sharp-looking beaks and look more like the beaks found on birds that were commonly called 'raptors' in such times. Their plumage matches the color of the pokegirl's wings in her pokegirl form, though may change in shades and even in patterns compared to that which remains upon the enlarged wings. The sight of such powerful and large avians has often been described as 'majestic' and 'awe-inspiring' by those that have an interest in avian species from before the war... likely a result of so many such species now being extinct in this day and age. While in flight or not, and regardless of form, they can actually control gravity in their immediate vicinity, which can increase or decrease their speed as necessary, as well as those within her personally manipulated gravity field.

When in battle, the pokegirl typically fights from afar using sonic attack techniques to do harm or Gravity to disrupt the opponents. They are somewhat clumsy on the ground, despite being able to fold their wings around their body or against their back while in either pokegirl form or their avian form. Their wing-arms do give them an advantage, however, when it comes to grabbing a target, and can exert great pressure upon it by utilizing a Vice Grip technique. Tamers should note that the breed can utilize the technique known as Bass Explosion, which can cause those who are near the site of the battle to go deaf temporarily, and as a result is banned from various gyms around the world. It is, however, a viable tactic outside of villages, towns, and cities, and can make it much easier to handle certain pokegirls, whether feral or not, once they cannot call for help or hear anything for a short while. Earplugs are quite important for a tamer and his harem, if the Mikila is allowed to use this technique. Oddly, the sound that is a result of the technique sounds like some sort of 'quack', which baffles most tamers that are unfamiliar with what researchers believe the pokegirl's avian genetics to be based from. In most gym battles, however, the Mikila is usually only of limited use, due to the sheer size of their bird form and the size of the arena itself, which is rarely large enough for a Mikila to maneuver all that much within such limited space. The breed is not nearly as adept at sex battles, however, due to the fact that their bird form is actually banned in such venues. With a pleasure threshold only somewhat greater than that of a Titmouse, the breed is almost never seriously considered a contender in such types of battles. It should be noted that upon being badly wounded or knocked out, a Mikila will return to her pokegirl form (a fact that makes it possible to handle feral Mikila that are in their bird form).

The breed is not commonly sought after by tamers, primarily due to the fact that they are not all that useful in battling in indoor environments. That said, they are considered one of the foremost pokegirls for transporting goods and others, which often leads to the breed being utilized by tradesmen and watchers. In the air, they are rather fast, easily attaining over a hundred miles per hour when only lightly burdened and with a good wind and weather, and can maintain such speeds for several hours before needing a rest. This excellent flying speed makes the breed often used for quick delivery of small packages, sensitive documents, and for 'air-mail' services in general. Some skilled individuals of the breed are even used for inter-continental travel, though these individuals are quite rare and require certain training to make it possible. Bearing heavier burdens of over 90kg (on average) will slow the pokegirl down considerably, or force the pokegirl to require more frequent rests along the way. The Mikila love to fly, and dislike being cooped up indoors for too long: a fact made more pronounced by the fact that the breed as a whole enjoy racing in midair. A keen competitive sense makes the pokegirl either a joy to have around or, perhaps, completely unbearable to some people, considering their eagerness to race no matter the competition. This often leads to individual rivalries with other fast pokegirls, like the Cheetit, Chocoboob, and Rapitaur that is most often simply 'friendly' in nature. However, the breed in general can be quick to anger and to retaliate, and yet, quick to cool off. Researchers once attempted to theorize why Sukebe would approve of a breed like this, but no researcher has been able to come up with a reasonable hypothesis to this day.

Mikila are only rarely found feral these days, and are usually found in their humanoid form when they are. Forming flocks upward of a dozen pokegirls strong, they will often fly in a V-formation from place to place, and unlike many pokegirls with of the Rock-type classification, will make their nests near rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes that are often hidden within forests. They are relatively benign and simple ferals, more than willing to share their temporary territories with locals that are do not attempt to attack the flock. However, indiscretions toward their pokekits, being attacked, or otherwise provoking even one of the flock can and usually does lead to the entire flock attacking the offender, which often leads to use of a Bass Explosion technique to force the attacker away. Ferals are also unafraid of feline pokegirls, a rarity among avian-based pokegirls, which can confuse both domestic and ferals that fit that category. A flock of Mikila is migratory, and can be followed to their typically northern nesting grounds in summer, or souther in winter. Threshold cases are not common, but are typically discovered as the pokegirl-to-be has problems with their sight becoming blurry. It takes roughly a week for the blurriness to subside, and when it does, the new pokegirl will automatically transform into her avian form and back again once she has fallen asleep into her pokegirl form. The new pokegirl will be starving when next she awakens- it is recommended to have enough food to feed a Snorlass halfway to sleep on hand when the new Mikila wakes up.
