During the War of Revenge, Iron Maidens were deployed as bodyguards to battle commanders. Once pokegirls were captured and tamed, this metallic breed became known as the living shield pokegirl, due to their abilities and tendency to interpose themselves between projectiles or danger and their tamers. It wasn't until a few decades after the war that this breed was discovered to be an evolution of the Damsel, one that trades over half of the indestructible breed's durability for the ability to actually battle.

Researchers were surprised at the Tamer's tale of giving his Damsel a Heavy Metal to carry before the pokegirl evolved during a later feral attack. It was discovered that while Damsels are easily stressed, the Battle Stress evolution comes only when Damsel acts contrary to her nature, something few Damsels will do. Due to the breed's ability to battle, often tamers looking for a strong steel type choose to try to evolve a Damsel.

From their Very Near Human pre-evolution the Iron Maiden changes very little, though her skin takes on a metallic coloring or a metallic sheen if the pokegirl remains skin toned (often being called a 'metal flake' coloration). Most often, the coloration is an iron black. The breed's bust doesn't change, and often drops a cup size or more.

Upon evolving, Damsels lose their submissive nature, becoming more intrepid and in a few cases, fearless to the point of endangering themselves. This is because the Iron Maiden's durability is trumped only by their pre-evolution, making this pokegirl incredibly hard to injure. Coupled with their new found ability to fight makes this steel type pokegirl more brazen on and off the battlefield. The breed's will increases, allowing them to ignore domineering pokegirls and orders from humans other than their tamer, though they still obey authority figures such as police. Many of the breed are very serious, and take given tasks with a professional air. This professionalism is appreciated by quite a few politicians and famous humans, as the breed can stay on task and stay alert for any dangers.

Few things can get through the Iron Maiden's defense, though they're particularly vulnerable to fire and electrical attacks, both being able to damage with burns or nerve disruption. They are powerful pokegirls in their own right, able to hold their own in many battles despite being no faster than a normal human. This is mostly due to their ability to take punishment until they land enough hits to take their opponent down.

Taming is difficult for this steel type breed, as Iron Maidens have a dulled sense of sensation due to their slightly denser skin. Many Tamers resort to using fire types to use Warm Embrace for taming, as the steel type becomes more sensitive to heat. Hot tubs are also a popular form of foreplay for the breed, allowing tamers to stimulate the breed before taming. Another draw of the breed is that despite their difficulty taming, they only need taming an average of once every three months, though individuals may vary by as much as one month.

Wild Iron Maidens are very solitary, and are seen as near juggernauts by ferals around them due to their tendency to shrug off attacks that would fell other pokegirls and go about their business. Relatively peaceful, these steel types go about their business of finding food and tending their nesting area and only attack if they feel pain from an attack. They do become a nuisance due to their taste for metallic minerals, which makes them prone to getting into mined areas and eating the raw ore. Luckily, neither ferals nor domesticated Iron Maidens enjoy the taste of processed metals, making them unlikely to become a nuisance in settled areas.

Transformation from a human directly into an Iron Maiden is very rare, though the transition happens quickly with violent nausea and headaches for the first few hours; followed by the thresholder's skin numbing coupled with intense metal cravings as the skin changes into its biometallic form. Threshold Iron Maidens are usually sold into the security sector.
