Discovered early after the Revenge War, this water type insect pokégirl is thought to be one of the first breeds created by the Legendary pokégirl Cocooner. Since their discovery, these pokégirls have been employed in bridge construction and maintainance as well as to push or pull small watercraft up and down rivers thanks to their ability to walk on the surface of water.

Unlike many common insect pokégirls, this aquatic pokégirl breed is rather tall, averaging in height from about five and a half feet to a willowy six and a half feet. Much of their height comes from their legs, which are longer than the average human. Their builds are lithe and slender, making the breed's C cups seem impressive. Appearing close to human, Skateys have a few distinct insectoid traits. From just inside their hair line, two long thin antennae stretch about a foot in length. Along both forearms and shins are bony exoskeleton plates that can be raised into serrated edges for her Saw Punch and Saw Kick techniques. Their eyes are human colored and shaped, but upon closer inspection are multifaceted and compound, the 'iris' coming in a multitude of colors.

Skatey greatly enjoy water, though they prefer to walk on top of it instead of swimming, delighting in the feel of water on the soles of their feet and being able to look down through clear water. It doesn't take much to please the breed, and they are notably easy to care for, much to the relief of fishermen and boatmen, who often use the breed for their work. Noted for being able to get along with other, more volatile breeds, these water strider pokégirls do not make very good Alphas or Betas, as the breed has a bit of an irresponsible streak, preferring to do things on their own. When motivated by either reward or punishment, however, they can easily stay on track to do tasks such as fish and pushing boats along waterways.

While not a very powerful pokégirl breed, Skateys can fight decently, and battling near water usually gives them a slight edge on land based pokégirls. The breed tends to soften up opponents with Bubblebeam and Water Spear before using hit and run tactics, though due to their durability, they can take a few hits. If in trouble, they tend to flee towards the water, running out onto it where most other pokégirls can't get to them, or sinking below the water to avoid attacks. This tendency tends to make them easy prey for electric types, and a good shock is known to knock them out easily. The breed does fare well against fire types, however, given their use of long range water attacks.

In the taming room, this insect type pokégirl is easy to please, due to the breed's slightly lowered pleasure threshold (though no where near as low as a Titmouse). They enjoy taming in pools, where their ability to breathe underwater comes in handy for many different positions. The breed doesn't have gills like some aquatic pokégirls do, nor do they have enhanced lung capacity, making long bouts of fellatio feasible only if they can breathe with their modified lung system through their nose. These pokégirls are a somewhat popular choice in regards to water types, because they have no need to replenish water as quickly as some of the more fully aquatic pokégirls.

Ferals are predatory, dining mainly on fish, but also eating plants and occasionally other pokégirls, especially those who cannot swim. Tamers are cautioned that if they are swimming or otherwise in deep water, that the approach of a feral Skatey does not mean she wishes to tame. Most ferals of the breed tend to fire off Water Spears at their prey, and are highly accurate with them, as well as being able to compensate for the refraction of water. This stuns fish, but can also knock a swimming pokégirl (or human) unconscious, causing them to drown. Tamers are warned to keep a vigilant eye around waterways, as some Skateys have even been known to colonize near calmer portions of the ocean.

Threshold into a Skatey is relatively uncommon, as the human girl in question starts developing eye strain first, followed by dermatitis on the forearms and shins and slight headaches centered around the area where her antennae are growing in. Some may find that their ability to walk on water develops along with these traits, though others don't develop the ability until after their physical traits have finished. Common among girls who work around waterways and fishing, many of these newly thresholded pokégirls are traded off to other fishermen within the community instead of getting sent to a ranch.
