Evolves From: Wasp (battle stress)

Although an evolution of the Wasp, the Whorenet was rarely found serving alongside the Swarm Pokégirl in the Revenge War. When subjected to a great deal of stress under combat, the Wasp evolves into the Whorenet; not only does this evolution grant them individuality, intelligence, and greater skill in battle, but it also removes them from the hive mind other Wasps share. Because of this, they were less effective when fighting together with Pokégirls such as the Wasp that were able to move as one under the effects of the hive mind.

The Whorenet is a far more desired Pokégirl than is the Wasp. Many factors attribute to this; their intelligence, their combat ability, their new-found independence, and their slightly more attractive features. Their facial features have a distinctly insectile cast, but not to the extent of the Wasp; the presence of a proper mouth instead of mandibles alone is sufficient to allow the Whorenet to become pretty with minimal effort, something the Wasp would be unable to do.

Despite the more human appearance of the Whorenet’s face, other aspects of their body have become more insectile than they were before evolution. Their eyes remain compound, and their antennae lengthen, as do their wings. Their body becomes covered in a chitinous armor, covering all of their body but their face; this forms a potent defense, and this armor is jagged and rough, with sharp edges and points appearing in many different places upon the armor. This armor is patterned in gold and black stripes, like their bodies, but is more lustrous than flesh would be. This armor is quite lightweight and flexible, allowing the Whorenet to fly even while armored.

A Whorenet’s armor is removable; it is formed from secretions of their skin, and once removed it would take approximately half an hour to re-attach to the skin. Neither the removal nor reattachment of the armor is painful; however, the time-consuming nature of the reattachment makes it somewhat dangerous for a Tamer’s Whorenet to remove their armor while in the wild; fortunately, their low Libidos will generally allow their Tamer’s to get to a safe location to Tame them before they go Feral.

Not all of their physical changes are positive, however. The evolution to a Whorenet costs them what was once a potent weapon in the Wasp’s arsenal; their stingers. The loss of what most would consider to be only weapons has a profound effect upon the psyche of the Whorenet. It is currently the belief of the scientific community that the Whorenet was originally designed to possess the stingers they lack. If so, it would explain in feeling of loss, of absence, that even Parthenogenesis-born Whorenets feel over the sting that they have been denied. Although it rarely manifests itself, some Whorenets can have a rather strong inferiority complex, one that is exacerbated by the presence of other Bug-type Pokégirls that actually have stingers.

Any one of the few Tamers who have ever possessed a Wasp and evolved her into a Whorenet would be surprised by their Whorenet’s “stinger complex”, to say nothing of the shock of finding that their Whorenet could actually have the emotions and independent thought to be jealous over anything. The battle stress of their evolution forces their mind to begin to think and work independently of any hive mind. Not only does this result in a much increased intelligence (and often an individualist streak, as well), but it also prevents the Whorenet from being able to be part of the hive mind. For many, this is a horrible loss; they liken the absence of the mind to having one’s limb severed, except the Whorenet was the limb. The generally acclimate to their new life quickly, and most attempt to remain with their hive even though they are not part of the communal identity. They are often used by Wasp Queen’s as second-in-commands, with authority in the hive directly below that of the Queen.

Despite their attempts to remain in the hive, they are generally not able to fight alongside the Wasps as effectively as they once could; without the hive mind directing their actions as one, they could prove to be more of a liability than an asset to the hive. Instead, Whorenets often serve as military advisors, a role they also played in the Revenge War. With the great intelligence even Feral Wasp Queens possess, the tactics of a Whorenet, when directed through the hive mind by advising the Queen, can make an already dangerous Wasp hive even more lethal. However, this same ability also makes them valuable members of a Tamer’s harem. A keen, logical mind and a knack for strategy allows them to be skilled Alphas (although their newness to emotion makes interacting with other harem members difficult, at times).

Many people find the Whorenet’s high level of proficiency with weapons surprising. However, one only has to listen to a Whorenet threaten to “sting” someone with their blade (as some are wont to do) to see why they are so skilled. Whorenets seem to naturally obtain skill with weapons (particularly swords and spears, with other piercing weapons being slightly less common), mentally replacing their stingers with their weapons. However, because of this, they tend to have a sometimes unhealthy love for their weapons. Simply threatening to take away their weapons is a potent tool for a Tamer with an unruly Whorenet, and actually taking their sword (or spear, as the case may be) for punishment could cause them to fall into a panic as stress and worry (and even feelings of inadequacy) overcome the normally proud Pokégirl. Breaking them, or threatening to do so, may be sufficient to send a Whorenet into a panic-induced rampage. Heavy fines are levied on Tamers who allow their Whorenets to rampage, and even harsher penalties fall upon those found guilty of intentionally provoking a Whorenet in a manner that would cause them to fly into a panic.

The Whorenet’s fighting ability extends beyond their skill with sharp objects, however. Several glands that had once directed poison to their stingers now lead to their mouth. By clenching a special muscle in their throat, they can imbue their saliva with poison causing the Slow, Paralyzation, Lust, Fatigue, or Itchy status ailments (fortunately for Tamers, this is a voluntary act, and will not interfere with Taming). A common tactic is to spit on their weapons before fighting; in addition to allowing them to poison their opponent with their attacks, it somehow renders them capable of using their weapons to produce the Sting attacks, despite not having a true stinger. Their armor and wings provide further advantages They are a very fast, very strong Pokégirl, with an analytical mind and a skill for strategy and tactics, causing this Pokégirl to be one of the more dangerous Bug-types around.

Although Whorenets lack the hive mentality that so defined the Wasp, they still habitually refer to their tamer as though they were royalty; fortunately for their Tamers, they now use the correct gender when referring to them. The ability of the Whorenet to remove their armor before a Taming is critical before a Taming; one foolish man in the late first century After Sukebe tried to Tame his Whorenet while she was in armor; he ended up rending his flesh upon her jagged chitin. However, once removed the Whorenet has skin as soft as any other Pokégirls (and softer than most, due to the protection against he elements provided by their armor). With their new independence and desire to learn, Whorenets can be quite explorative in the bedroom as they seek ever-new methods of inducing and receiving pleasure. However, the vast majority of these roles place them as the submissive and less active partner; even without the hive mind, submitting to authority is instinctive in this breed.

Because Wasp Queens are the only members of the Wasp breed that can reproduce after second puberty, Thresholding into a Whorenet is impossible at this point in time.
