Once a pokegirl is exposed to Myconi spores for six hours, they gain the Fungal template, which is both a blessing and a curse. Those pokegirls given this template gain the plant element and the ability to produce dusts, control fungi, and several enhancements. However, this also comes at the cost of a compulsion to be further exposed to spores, which in turn leads to evolving into a Myconi upon further exposure to spores from that breed. Some tamers and pokegirls see this as a reasonable trade off, while others avoid exposure with dedication.

Once the spores fully take hold, the base pokegirl's skin may undergo a change. The most common change is that of acquiring mushroom-like traits, either by way of the skin becoming moist and spongy to the touch, small mushrooms of various types growing on the skin (this is most commonplace on tails, head(s), arms, and/or legs), or the hair of the pokegirl in question being replaced by a mushroom cap. This variation of appearance is called the Mushroom variation. The second most commonplace appearance modification is actually not much at all. The eyes of the pokegirl begin to glow a yellow color when in the dark. This type of appearance is called the Yeast variation. Lastly is what is called the Mold variation, where the pokegirl's skin picks up spots, becomes covered in slime, or displays other species of mold growing on the skin (this variation and the Mushroom variation are sometimes confused, as some fungal species are hard to identify).

Aside from a new found respect or interest in fungus (which may stem from the Templated's new abilities) not much changes in personality initially. The compulsive nature of the Myconi spores soon becomes evident, as Templated pokegirls report an urge to 'give in' to the spores. This urge has not been rated as above an Alpha bond initially, though when in the presence of Myconi spores, it does increase to a comparable level. Some pokegirls have described it as something akin to an itch that needs to be scratched, though this varies in intensity, and other comparisons have been made. The more the pokegirl is exposed, the stronger this need becomes, acting much like an addiction. Only powerfully willed pokegirls are capable of withstanding repeated exposure, and for those tamers with Fungal Templated pokegirls, the prudent course of action would be to avoid exposure as much as possible.

With additional techniques at the Fungal Templated's disposal, battle tactics may change, though by and large many pokegirls may only occasionally utilize these techniques. Tamers must take precautions and re-learn their pokegirl's strengths and weaknesses, as the new elemental merging with a pokegirls current elements (barring those who are of the plant type already) brings changes that can prove disastrous if ignored. The Fungal Template also carries with it an increased water requirement, a little over twice that of a normal human.

Taming preferences do not change upon gaining the template, though the slime appearing Templated can be somewhat messy to deal with. Some have been known to cause respiratory problems or allergic reactions in some tamers. Caution is advised for the first taming. Thankfully, Fungal Templated pokegirls do not know and cannot learn the Myconi's signature Spore technique. There is no threshold into a template, though if exposed long enough to Myconi spores humans go through threshold and become templated.

Ferals that have been templated are inexplicably drawn to Myconi through use of their Sixth Sense ability. Once within the area, these ferals act normally for their base breed until within the presence of the transformative spores once again, at which point they evolve into Myconi. Occasionally, predatory ferals may eat their 'parent' Myconi before evolving into one, or may do so before evolving at all. Scanning pokegirls before capture is the key to survival, as many tamers handbooks and classes will advise.
