Tamers seeking water types that catch a Magikoi frequently find themselves disappointed. Trying to identify pokegirls through the distortion of the water often leads tamers to assume that they've found a rarer pokegirl when it is in fact this common breed. It wasn't until the Magikoi's one unique capability, or their evolved forms, came to be understood that there was any real demand for them at all.

The appearance of the Magickoi brings the classic mythological creature known as a mermaid to mind. They most often are found with the appearance of human women from the waistline up, and have the large tail of a bony fish leading down from there. The most common scale colorations for the fish portion of their body are the bright orange of a goldfish, though other bright colors are also seen. A rare few members of the breed also have scales and fins on the human portion of their body, most often on their forearms and back. The Magikoi possesses some metamorphic ability. Their fish tail is known to 'split', at least partially or completely to accommodate taming. A complete transformation will leave the Magikoi with two relatively normal legs, though scales and fins again may or may not be present.

The unique ability of the Magikoi that serves as their saving grace is the natural creation of a pocket dimension they have since birth. They know instinctively how to access this pocket dimension and it has a rather impressive capacity. The source of the breed's name comes from the fact that the access point for this pocket dimension is found very close to the pokegirl's groin, leading some to incorrectly assume that the Magikoi was actually storing objects within her body, more specifically within their 'magic cunt'.

Of course is didn't help that the breed seems to enjoy playing up the act of storing items when the situation is appropriate. At least when tamed, they enjoy putting on theatrics whenever accessing this pocket dimension. They will either turn away from observers or reach within clothing they may be wearing and then spend a great deal of time fishing around within the subspace, often accompanied by whatever sounds the Magikoi feels she should be making to go along with such an action. This is completely an act though and it doesn't take much discipline to remove this behavior.

Capacity for this pocket dimension seems to be about half that of a pokepack, so the breed is sometimes referred to as the 'poor man's pokepack.' Unlike a pokepack items are not put in stasis when stored. This means that food will spoil and pokegirls within their pokeballs will go feral if left for too long. Living creatures can enter this subspace safely; conditions are livable though food and water will need to be provided for them. As a word of caution, it is considered extremely unwise to have two Magikoi enter their pocket dimensions simultaneously. When this was done under research conditions it took a number of mages specializing in portal and teleportation magic cooperating in a complex ritual to retrieve the two pokegirls. Finally, should the Magikoi perish the subspace collapses, violently expelling all objects stored within.

Very few people utilize Magikois in a battle harem. The breed only learns one technique naturally, and even then their Water Gun is considerably weaker than that of other breeds. Relying on teaching her magic is a gamble. Some excel at it and others have no magical capability whatsoever despite their magic element. There are still those who put in the time investment needed to gain one of her two evolutions though. Caution should be taken when battling against especially determined Magikois, as it's entirely possible for the breed to accumulate enough stress to evolve to a Gynadose on the spot. Needless to say, this would shift the flow of battle considerably.

Taming a Magikoi is nothing remarkable. They most often shift to their legged form for it, though it is possible to tame them in their aquatic form. Some adventurous tamers with Magikoi find ways to utilize the portal to the subspace to create new, exotic positions.

Feral Magikois seem to be something of pack rats. They will collect items that catch their interest and store them within their pocket dimension, then forget about them. A freshly caught Magikoi should always be searched, as occasionally they find something of value. If not, there will still be quite a number of items that need disposed of. They often form schools for protection against predatory ferals, taking safety in numbers. Unlike most social ferals, they will not stop to defend one member of the school who is attacked, instead the rest of them use the chance to flee.

Threshold is a common result for families with a history of water types. There is a strong correlation of threshold Magikois lacking magic ability unless the family also has at least some magic type lineage, besides that of other Magikois.
