“I lead the lost ones to shore, where the earth is soft, treaded and worn. I steadfastly guard those among the sea against her unwavering, relentless scorn.”

That is one of the sayings told among many sailors, retired salts and seafarers of the oceans about a mysterious breed of pokégirl not seen since the Revenge War. Many believed her at the time to be simply another mythological mystery elusively appearing within the world. The breed itself was also considered and worshiped as guardians and patrons of the very oceans to some during those early years, while immensely being a recurring threat amid the other aquatic types that assaulted, sank or sabotaged ships during the War. Bafflingly, some Watchers at the time have spotted sketchy sightings long after the War was over and Sukebe’s bases were wiped off the map, firmly believing said girl to be just another hoax, a common Watermaiden or a very elusive Siren. Photos, recordings and crackpot theorists all have said the breed has been seen riding or swimming with marine pokégirls. Others also have the Feral girls following ships going into storm laden waters and without explanation, guiding them safely through it. With this being the only info garnered on the breed at the time, it was not until the year 240 AS that a Watcher discovered the breed as he was heading to the Magma Islands to study pokégirls surviving in the natural, harsh environment. It was then he experienced one of the many volcanoes erupting, the force so strong it sent out a tsunami-like wave, immediately capsizing his ship, spilling him and the few researchers among himself into the deep. Minutes upon hours of being tossed and pulled under, he was set upon by the mysterious girl, he seeing her amid a few other rise out of the very deep itself, clad in armor and dragging him to shore and the others as well. Very much alive after the disaster, he saw her sitting on his lap, staring and grinning and like all Ferals, we can already picture what was coming next.

Nereidames appeared in small brigades during the Revenge War. They were almost always teamed up with Boobfins, Sharptits, Baleenas or Orcunts, led by a She-Captain in small knit squads of twelve or more. The main purpose of the breed was of the support in sea warfare on human vessels, riding the marine pokegirls attacking the very ships. Their very tools, aside from their hunting harpoons, were used in casual maintenance of Subeke’s aquatic bases, scuttled and sabotaged the ships they invaded, cutting into the very hull itself and crippling the engines and generators that kept them running. Nereidames are enchanting girls, their beauty often being compared to the Siren breed, some even mistaking them for said breed at the time. Their heights vary, with the mean average being a tall 6ft even. Some specimens have been recorded as tall as 8ft or as short as 4ft. Hair and eye colors will run the normal gamut of the human range though aquatic greens and blues will be more prevalent. Even monochromatic colorations of black, greys or even white is not unheard of. Body-wise their build is proportional to their heights with a slight fit, athletic muscle tone compared by many to the Definition build of an Amachop or an accomplished swimmer. Breast sizes are a modest C cup, with the largest noted to be DD’s on one specimen, though smaller sizes are also apparent from each Nereidame. When clad completely in their armor they gain an extra foot in height and added durability; allowing them to shrug off stronger attacks. Tamed Nereidames will always wear their armor, showing similar behavior of the Armsmistress breed, finding it to be clothing enough for them. Each suit of armor is unique to every Nerediame, sporting different patterns and colorations, even up to looking like some have the very coral growing on them, making no two ever alike, though all will share the familiar fish scale pattern however. Domestics are found adopting the looks of the ‘Landstriders’ as they call them and their culture, residing in whatever ocean that League touches. They also have a metamorphic ability allowing them to change their armor at will to aid in swimming, while remaining light and durable enough for land and sea endeavors. Most common forms for aquatic movement are a simple marine tail, similar to many aquatic pokégirls. Other forms can be something more modern such as a propeller from a ship, a species of aquatic animal or even fully mimicking a full marine pokegirl from head to toe in scale and similar size, with this latter requiring more experienced skill. Researchers were first puzzled as to how they form their rivets for their gun, harpoons for hunting and their torch fuel, with the first and second being composed of a durable stainless steel. Studies have shown that all Nereidames extract the excess iron, fatty acids and necessary minerals in their diet or from other sources, processing it within their internal core. The process in making it is similar to how a Komortor processes bombs, forging their needed implements before depositing it within a subspace pocket for later usage. The use of their tools has also classified them as ‘tech’ girls because of the discovery. They also possess the ability to breathe underwater indefinitely and purify the very air in the natural environment, even the carbon dioxide one naturally expels, turning it into breathable oxygen. The Watcher whom survived his disaster states that is how he was kept from drowning as the Nereidame passed on his recycled air back to him, enough to draw him to the surface.

Nereidames are friendly, calm, cuddly and affectionate girls if not for being a protective, dedicated worker as their title implies. Why this is stems from the mythology Sukebe based them on, the mythical race of old were indeed friendly to many seafarers, guiding the lost or trapped within the stormy oceans of the world. Researchers also say their guardian, steadfast nature is due to her Steel typing now mixing amid her calm-loving Water typing. This has also garnered amusement from others, especially Domestics when being compared by typing to their completely opposite, ‘icthyo-sapien sisters’ the Sharptits. One Tamer has gone on record saying, ‘same typing, none of the viciousness. Basically a poor man’s Sharptits. Catch one if ya can!!’ Though many blush at the statement, forgive this Researcher for actually adding it here.

Most of these girls are not seen in a position of power in a Tamer’s harem, though they can be up to the task of Alpha or Beta if granted it. Those that are, especially in the Alpha position, treat her Harem as a collectively defined work-group. They are an extension of herself to better defend her Master, themselves and the growing Harem. The breed gets along well with many Water types though especially strange with the Sharptits breed. As said before, Researchers all believe it is because of their similar typings, though when one was asked, she said, ‘although brash, they did pull their weight as with the others. That, and where else am I gonna get a torpedo with teeth?” Today, many Domestics are found among the many docks and harbors of the known world, especially with retired sea salts and seafaring Tamers, keeping them up to date with repairs or salvaging sunken wrecks of the deep for profit, their pressure resistance allowing them to dive much deeper than most known breeds. When not working, they have been noted to make scrimshaw out of the bones and teeth of their kills, up and including adding unused rivets in their work, creating gifts for their Master and favored Harem sisters. Ferals populate every ocean, usually seen among the rocks or on beaches close to the waters they hunt in or call home.

In battle, Nereidames play their role according to where the fight takes place. In the water, the battle is more akin to a graceful swim, the girl moving and flowing like the very element itself and striking hard like the very element that is a part of them or a powerful wave. They open up with Metal Sound or Yell, using it to throw off their foes before striking hard with Metal Punch, using this tactic to deal considerable damage before they retaliate. If on the receiving end, the Nereidame will defend with Iron Defense coupled with her armor covering her completely to shrug off attacks. To say they are not graceful on land would be a mistake, as they follow up a more distant approach, throwing harpoons or ranged techniques. If she feels she has an advantage aside from her known attacks, she will wield a harpoon in close combat, never using her tools to fight. Domestics and Tamed will have more throwing accuracy than a Feral, whom fail to lead and distance their target while using Metal Sound liberally. They are a terror to those opposed to their element but do share a known weakness. Like the Sharptits, elements like Fighting, Plant or a really strong Electric attack will spell their doom, doing double the damage to subdue or knock out the girl.

Taming a Nereidame comes as many a surprise to Tamers, being the latter part is reported by ones whom have one never tried taming underwater. They love to dance, especially so in or under the water, twirling, spinning and moving with the ebb and flow of the very tide. Nereidames adore the feeling of their Master and the water surrounding them both, the two different temperatures combining wonderfully. Tamers also need not worry about lack of air and a fear of drowning as they are able to pass on air to them. Doing this also allows them to let their Master set the pace as they wish, simply holding on in close contact as they give them air during the Taming. When on land, close contact still plays a role in the bed, Nereidames loving their masters on top of them, giving submission and wanting as much skin to skin as necessary. However many have been noted to be adopting to what their Master wants as well. Noted, all Tamers need to be careful of their enhanced strength, though comparable to many low level girls of the same strength vein. Restraints are needed until the girl learns self-control, especially in the case of newly Tamed Nereidames.

Threshold is not unheard of unless the girl has a heavy ancestry of Nereidame in their family line. First signs manifest in hair color and craving a higher diet of fat and iron to process in their growing core. This continues with heavy migraines and aches as their internal systems adjust to their pressure resistant state, followed by their lungs adapting to their fluid environment coupled with the coming of their environmental purification of the very air, which always gives the sensation of drowning or severe bronchitis. Threshold ends when said girl finally gains the ability to call forth her armor and tools, which will come as a sudden shock to many. Ferals are marked with a light feral state, mainly a decrease in intelligence but have been seen primitively marking territories off with the bones of their kills. either Piles mark entrances and exits, haphazardly strung up bones with old harpoons denote the border of their territories. They are very cautious, usually keeping to themselves among their group but easily spooked and always in their armor, using Metal Sound to drive off threats instead of engaging them. If the attacker does not leave, she will attack with her known techniques or her harpoons, though not as proficient when Tamed however.
