With only one documented sighting during the Revenge War, Warvern were thought to be a myth until 121 AS when a Sunshine Tamer's Dracass evolved during an underground tauromachy match. The newly evolved Warvern made short work of the Amachoke bull and went on to become one of the most popular matadors in SLUT history. It took researchers another decade to pin down the evolution trigger, which is battle stress while in their human form and either an unwillingness or an inability to switch to the stronger dragon-form of the Dracass. Being able to handle enough battle stress without changing forms generally requires extensive training and it is almost unheard of for a Dracass to evolve into a Warvern without years of training in the use of their human form.

Warvern look almost identical to their human form as a Dracass, with some gaining an increase in height or bust with their evolution. They retain their youthful enhancement and always look young, with the oldest looking members appearing to be in their late twenties. Their hair and eye color vary as much as any Very Near Human breed, with technicolor hair being slightly more common than in Ingenue and less common than in Amazons. It’s only in battle that a Warvern’s Pokégirl nature makes itself known. When fighting, a Warvern manifests an aura of Draconic Ki that is visible to the naked eye and reveals their true nature. The aura covers her entire body and includes a pair of enormous draconic wings that are almost tangible, but not quite. While not usable as weapons, like real wings, they do allow the Warvern to fly though the air as if they were an actual part of her body. Warven who are not manifesting their aura cannot fly.

Being a Fighting type, Warvern generally prefer physical activities. Most are dedicated martial artists, though this sample is tainted by the trigger of their evolution from a Dracass. Warvern often still have the problems with authority that they did as a Dracass, but because of the way their evolution works most respect their Tamer by the time they evolve. Some Warvern, however, mellow with their evolution. Being such a powerful Pokégirl can make squabbles over personal authority seem petty.

Most Warvern are not suited to the Alpha position. They often have a protective streak when it comes to weaker members of the harem and are willing to outright disobey their Tamer if they think that he or she is being unfair. In more progressive harems, this tendency can make them a good Beta as they can champion the other girls while working with their Tamer and Alpha to come to a fair solution. A strong Alpha can keep this tendency in check. Those Warvern with a calmer temperament can make perfectly capable Alphas.

In battle, many Warvern prefer hand to hand combat. With their enhanced strength and agility and the martial arts training they normally have, they can be devastating opponents. Battle styles vary based upon the exact martial arts that they have studied and personality. Warvern also have a very large Ki reserve which they can use to make an array of Ki attacks, both at range and up close. Their Ki is actually stored in their Draconic Aura, and a perceptive opponent can judge a Warvern’s condition by reading the aura they put out.

When it comes to taming, Warvern are as variable as most Pokégirl breeds. The only preference they seem to have in common is a dislike of being restrained, though even this comes in varying degrees and with rare exceptions. This is an unfortunate preference in a breed as physically strong as the Warvern, as most Warvern seem to have trouble controlling their strength well enough during taming. It is highly recommended that Tamers not let their Warvern do away with restraints unless they are absolutely sure the girl can control herself.

Feral Warvern are a disaster. With their incredible strength, flight and access to Hyperbeam they stake out a large outdoor territory that they keep clear of all other life. Anyone or anything entering their territory is met with extreme force and very few walk away from such a confrontation. The breed almost constantly uses Outrage while feral and are almost a Menace-sized threat. Luckily for humanity, they don't evolve in the wild so they only pop up when their Tamer has died and once they have staked their claim on a piece of land they stay put allowing authorities to call in the calvary to deal with them.

No human has ever thresholded into a Warvern. Because of their evolution trigger, it is thought to be impossible.
