The Werecat was used for infiltration, information gathering, and sudden attacks from behind the enemy lines. Possessed of the ability to appear completely human, she was able to enter human encampments and stay there, like a human save for the days of the full moon when she must hide. She was able to obtain documents, spy, and when her fellow Pokégirls attacked, perform a surprise assault from the rear while the human forces directed their attention outwards.

When a Tamer gives his (or her) Wildcat a Moon Stone, the resulting evolution into a Werecat may be initially disappointing in how few changes occur. The color and pattern of her fur may change (although the white underbelly always remains), but nothing else does. Once her metamorphic abilities are revealed, however, most Tamers will find themselves very impressed. However, the Werecat is possessed of a deep connection to the moon, and her ability to assume another form is limited by the lunar cycle.

When the moon is full and bright in the sky, the Werecat can turn into her most ferocious of forms, a great bipedal being that seems far more feline than human, with incredible strength and speed. But upon the setting of the moon, she is weaker; although still able to assume the alternate form, it is not so powerful as it is when Luna bathes the darkness with her light. As the moon starts to wane and draws closer to the New Moon, the Werecat’s alternate form draws every closer to being human, growing weaker and weaker until, when the moon is dark, they only limited to their human body.

As a result of this ability, the Werecat is almost useless for anything but tracking until the moon starts to wax again. In her human form, there are virtually no clues that she is anything but a normal girl, although Pokédexes will still identify her, and any Pokégirls able to track things by smell will still notice that her scent is that of a cat. The only way to identify a Werecat as a Pokégirl is by having sex with her (as she tends to purr), or by finding a way to reveal her senses; although no stronger nor faster than a human in her basic form, she retains her enhanced hearing, sound, and sense of smell.

During the majority of the lunar cycle, the Werecat has abilities roughly between the Warcat and the Boobcat. She is mostly stronger than a Boobcat, but lacks the mighty strength and toughness of a Warcat. She can be faster and more agile than a Warcat, but neither her speed nor reflexes are equal to those of a Boobcat. The few Tamers that have a Werecat though say that her balanced nature makes her very valuable, and that they wouldn’t trade her for either of her sister-types (although even their most ardent proponents will admit they aren’t too good in a difficult fight until about halfway through the second quarter of the lunar cycle) . Her combat abilities do suffer a little from a lack of specialization though, as her generalist fighting skills, as well as her less physically-oriented human form, give her a marked disadvantage in a fair fight against another Fighting-types, unless the Full Moon is nigh. A Werecat is made for surprise though, preferring to enter combat with her opponent thinking she is a weak human-like Pokégirl and then morphing into her cat-form and rushing forward while her foe is surprised. To back up the physical power they possess, they can also possess the attack Lunar Strike, and learning attacks such as Lunar Blade or Lunar Bolt is rather easy for the breed, due to their connection to the moon.

Werecats don’t have any particular way they prefer to be Tamed, although they remember what they learned of sexual positions and techniques from when they were Wildcats, and may have developed a personal favorite from that. Many enjoy shifting forms in the middle of being Tamed, the sudden change in their tactile nerves exciting them. However, the sensations of this change can be disturbing and even nauseating to a Tamer currently Taming her, so they are often commanded not to do so.

Curiously from what one would expect of a Pokégirl with such a bond to the moon, a Werecat’s libido shifts from Average to High during the New Moon, rather than the Full (considering the Full Moon’s connection with sexuality and wildness, the cause for this is unknown). During this time they can’t seem to get enough sex, and seem almost to become a Wildcat again in how lusty they become. Tamers need to be careful during this time to avoid letting them go Feral. Even when the moon is not in the sky, they will still be plagued with this almost unstoppable lust. During the Revenge War, infiltrating Werecats generally hid away during the New Moon because such an increased sex drive would bring suspicion.

Feral Werecats always stay in their alternate form, never changing to their human form until after they have been brought back to a non-Feral state. This makes it extraordinarily easy to catch them during a New Moon, but at other times it can be quite difficult. Threshold girls become Werecats extremely rarely, but those who do always shift into their feline form immediately when Threshold is complete. The shock of it usually prompts them to unconsciously shift back to human form very quickly though, usually leaving the poor girl in denial that she ever went through Threshold. If she can be convinced that she did indeed go through Threshold, most tests results usually mistakenly identify her as an Ingenue or a Damsel or another Pokégirl type that looks totally human.
