Used for both legitimate messaging as well as misdirection, Terra Birds were often seen dashing over terrain carrying or bearing messages for pokegirl armies to use, or for humans to intercept. The latter tactic was often successful, particularly with highly sensitive information being sent via teleport capable pokegirls. Modern uses for these avian pokegirls, often called Chocoboobs (or Chocobabes) after an ancient game, include acting as a mount, messenger, or pack pokegirl.

Terra Birds are tall pokegirls, standing between 6' 5'' (1.98 meters) and 7.5 feet (2.29 meters) in their taming form. Taming forms range from Near Human to Not Very Near Human with the most anthromorphic individuals having a full body coating of feathers, flight style feathers along the forearms, a small tail with plumed feathers, avian lower legs from the knees down, with a small percentage having beaks. The least anthromorphic individuals have hair, some feathering along the forearms, a small plumed tail, and avian lower legs from the knees down, with aquiline facial features. The breed's lower legs are scaled and tough, ending in four toed feet in a 3 forward, single rear toe configuration. These toes are tipped in extremely sharp talons, and when combined with the breed's leg muscles and kicking power, make for deadly weapons. Feathering is either yellow or a light mottled grey initially, changing in colors or highlights as an individual gains or loses their secondary element (see below).

The battle form of the Terra Bird is that of a large bird of the phorusrhacidae family. These 'terror birds' stood from 7 - 9 feet (2.13 - 2.74 meters) tall, and about the same in body length. Their necks are muscular and make up about 1/3 of the bird's height, with bodies being thick with heavy leg muscles. Feathering is full but ends at the body, leaving long, heavily scaled avian legs. They also have only wings and no hands in this form. Tail feathers are somewhat plumed and tend to be a bit longer than in their taming form. These bird pokegirls heads have large, axe like beaks that are slightly hooked and very sharp. They also have crests that can be raised and fanned like a halo or flattened against their heads. In this form these avian pokegirls cannot speak, though they are able to make chirps and whistles.

Generally described as friendly and hardworking, Terra Birds have been noted as putting feeling useful as a top priority in their personal happiness. Tamers can quickly earn the respect of the breed by making sure they always have something to do. The breed makes for excellent betas by way of their hardworking attitudes, though depending on the individual, may need some hand holding to get the hang of the responsibility of the Alpha position.

These avian pokegirls are good in team battles, usually covering their partner and allowing them to wear down opponents. The breed isn't any kind of slouch on their own, and can cast Megido after a bit of charge up (depending on their experience). They can also call upon their various elemental abilities, making Chocoboobs highly variable in their battling styles and the needed techniques to counter them.

The Terra Bird's most famous ability is that of their highly adaptable bodies. Once the breed becomes a pokegirl, either through their first puberty from a pokekit or from threshold, they are able to adapt their bodies to several biomes. This adaptation alters the breed's body, causes them to pick up an element a technique, and an enhancement. The change to a Chocobabe's body is only cosmetic, as the feathering on the body (both forms) changes either partially via highlights or wholly, becoming a completely new color. In order to change in this manner, the individual must spend one year in the same type of environment. The alteration happens slowly, and only once it is complete will a pokedex read the Terra Bird's new element typing, though around half-way to three quarters of the way there, the individual will begin to develop the enhancement and have access to the new technique.

After the secondary element is gained, an individual will remain that element within the same environment, or until she spends another full year in another type of environment. While the element will 'fall off' upon switching subtypes, the gathered enhancements and techniques are cumulative, making the breed potentially very powerful. Considered the most powerful subtype of the breed is the Platinum or Rainbow Terra Bird. These individuals have trained for years in various environments, and have cycled through all eight other subtypes. While the addition of the magic element and the gathered enhancements and techniques somewhat bolster the individual's power, usually it is the experience of a life of training that causes the final subtype to be powerful. Once the Terra Bird reaches this stage, she will no longer change elements.

Ferals of the breed are omnivorous, though they actively hunt for food and are large enough to take down a full grown human with ease. Territorial, it is wise to take into account the surrounding environment when facing a feral Terra Bird, as these individuals have usually remained in the area all their lives and will bear the sub-typing of that area. Due to ferals not traveling, the odds of finding a feral Platinum or Rainbow type are astronomical.

Threshold directly into a Terra Bird is not common occurrence, usually only happening with avian ancestry. Symptoms are nonexistent, as the thresholder suddenly transforms into their battle form, and is unable to transform into their new taming form for about an hour. All thresholders (as well as pokekits) start out as plain Flying types, no matter what their parentage was. Normally, thresholders are sold into postal services, taxi services, or given over to the ranch system.
