Evolves From: CalamityJane (death, corpse reanimated by a Megami-sama)
A CalamityJane is genetically bred to be defiant, which unfortunately leads some of them to be killed before their time. But even they cannot defy death.

They’re rebels. Very few could be considered grand heroes. Why Megami-sama take an interest in them is beyond this researchers ken. But there have been several instances when a CalamityJane, two or three days after being murdered, would be visited by a Megami-sama. The Celestial would then use her magic to re-animate the Pokégirl’s body, which would transform her into a powerful ghostly warrior. A GhostRider. They would hunt down the ones that ended their life, having become a creature of vengeance. Once that urge is satisfied, they become strong warriors that are a benefit to any tamer’s harem.

When a GhostRider is ‘born’, they undergo a startling transformation. Their hair pales, becoming almost white in appearance, as their pupils turn ghostly white. Any physical damage to both clothing and flesh repairs itself. This by itself doesn’t seem like much. But in every witnessed case of a Jane transforming into a GhostRider, the first thing they did after getting up again was look around, as if tracking the one who killed them. Once they ‘lock-on’ to them, their flesh on their head and most of their chest melts away, exploding in a swirl of the element which killed them, revealing their screaming skull. Their skeletal appearance in battle mode has led them to be called ‘Hone-onna’ in the Edo League, in reference to an old legend about a skeletal spirit of vengeance born from the souls of dead harlots. Once a GhostRider ‘locks on’ to their opponent, they literally will not stop until they have been avenged. This doesn’t always result in death for the person responsible for the murder, and in all recorded cases of a vengeance successfully achieved through murder (repeat: all RECORDED cases), the one being killed was someone that the League wanted dead anyway. This has caused only minor sanctions against GhostRiders, and efforts to ‘direct’ the efforts of these unique Ghost-types. Once their need for vengeance has been satisfied, they will seek out their Tamer again in hopes of being reaccepted by them. Only a small handful have rejected taking back their Pokégirls. If the Tamer has been murdered, they seek out a new one after holding a small funeral ceremony for him/her.

They retain abilities from their previous life, although now they have the ability to enchant their weapons with the element they gained upon their death. This gives them stronger offensive capability. Indeed, GhostRiders as a whole tend to be much more daring, going on the all out offensive, their death seemingly removing what little fear they may have had. In battle, they tend towards fierceness rivaled only by few. This fierceness carries over to Taming, with most GhostRiders being far more aggressive sexually, in some cases matching even Succubi and Tigresses in their desire. They retain the desires of their previous form and taming habits of their previous forms, they just become more aggressive, as mentioned earlier.

GhostRiders normally look as they did when they were CalamityJanes, barring the much paler hair. They behave as they did before their death, but also tend to be uneasy (but not fearful) of the element that killed them. This doesn’t prevent them from being fierce in battle and taming. GhostRiders have a battle mode of sorts. Normally, they just have the same abilities they have when they are a CalamityJane. When they go into battle mode, their clothing shifts, becoming more menacing in appearance (usually growing spiked armoring in places), and all the flesh on their head melts away, usually just down to just above their breasts, an aura of whatever element that killed them forming around their bodies. The exceptions to this rule are the ‘solid’ elements such as Ground, Rock, and Steel, which just form a thick collar around the skeletal area of the GhostRider. Upon releasing their battle mode, the flesh regrows on their bodies, looking just as it did beforehand.

GhostRiders, because they are reanimated bodies rather than the actual Pokégirl, who’s soul has passed on, possess very little memories from their old life. They have flashes of who they used to be, phantasmagoric visions that pass through their mind in instants. They can remember who they were attached to in life, but remember no details beyond that. This has led to frustration for some, as some have been noted to desperately want to remember who they were when they were alive, but most have been accepting that they aren’t the Pokégirls they were.

GhostRiders have the ability to cast an enchantment on a vehicle (no larger than a small car) or weapon, shape-shifting it according to their element. Once the enchantment is cast, they can summon the weapon or vehicle from anywhere, and repair damage done to it. This allows for greater mobility, as the vehicle in its transformed state is semi-autonomous and doesn’t need fuel, completely loyal to the GhostRider. This enchantment can also be placed on other Pokégirls, such as most horse-types, although the effect is only temporary, and the affected Pokégirl cannot be summoned at will unless a ShrineMaiden with the ‘girl in question’s contract is available. Keep in mind that if the vehicle in question was taken from another Tamer, the Tamer that ends up with the Pokégirl will either have to pay for it or convince the Ghost Rider to relinquish it.

They also have the unique ability Soul Purge. This attack, a combination astral/psychic engulfs the opponent in an aura of their element (for example, in the case of the fighting-type GhostRider, an aura of chi that vaguely resembles electricity), forcing them to experience any pain they’ve inflicted on another for whatever reason. It can be permanently crippling to weaker foes, and only slightly damaging to stronger ones. Soul Purge, however, has a major weakness: the person being affected MUST feel guilt for their actions.

All types of GhostRiders tend to gain a greater appreciation for life, a great vivaciousness coming over them as they go through their daily activities. They tend to hold other Ghost-types in high regard, as well as anyone who specializes in them, or in necromancy in general.

As Ghost Riders are considered valuable commodities, there is little data on a Feral state for them. The small handful of them that have gone Feral have shown similar qualities. They refuse to let their vehicles leave their immediate line of sight, and become more paranoid about strangers, their violence levels rising accordingly. They’re dangerous to deal with, but with careful planning and an experienced team of Pokégirls, you should be able to defeat them.

As the only way for a GhostRider to appear is for a CalamityJane to die and then have their body reanimated by a Megami-sama, there is no possibility that GhostRiders can result from Threshold. Like Francinesteins, GhostRiders are not considered corpses, as all their bodily functions are working again, and can produce children, however. The most common Threshold from GhostRider children are either CalamityJanes or Ingenue.

No one knows the reason why only CalamityJane corpses can be turned into GhostRiders. Any attempt to get information out of Megami-samas on the matter is met with the usual frustrating lack of answers that the breed give out like cookies.

Murdered by Immolation: Blaze Rider
Element: Ghost/Fire
Strong Vs: Bug, Ice, Plant, Steel, Fighting, Poison, Psychic
Weak Vs: Ground, Water, Dark
Attacks: Fireball, Flamethrower, Ignite, Rage, Fire Spin
Enhancements: Fire affinity, Flame absorption, Pyrokinesis
Blaze Riders are the unfortunate result of a CalamityJane being burned to death. They tend to be the fiercest of the known GhostRider types. Most have a tendency towards fierce tempers, and are generally considered to be best suited for advanced Tamers, or at the very least patient ones. They can sometimes be seen to assist in firefighting, using their ability to absorb flames to heal themselves. They cannot use this ability indefinitely, as they can only absorb so much before collapsing. Blaze Riders tend to favor chains and/or shotguns as weapons, as well as cycles as motorcycles.

Blaze Riders tend to be the most iconic GhostRiders, their aura of flames surrounding their skulls in battle mode making them extremely intimidating in appearance. The famousness of the Blaze Rider is a result of a Threshold CalamityJane named Barbara Ketch, working with a Johto League tamer named Jameson Blaze. Barbara was murdered by a Whorizard working for the Limbec Pirates, but after her corpse was reanimated and transformed into a GhostRider, she eventually tracked down her murderer and killed her with the help of her Tamer’s harem. Jameson Blaze eventually went on to become a famous Johto League champion with Barbara his other ‘girls, which included a LawFoxx, Moonmaid, and NightNurse, retiring to coach Wreckball.

Murdered by Drowning: Aqua Rider
Element: Ghost/Water
Strong Vs: Fire, Bug, Fighting, Poison, Psychic, Rock
Weak Vs: Electric, Ice, Plant, Dark
Attacks: Water Gun, Water Spear, Bubbler, Water Tower, Mirror Image
Enhancements: Water affinity, Can grant temporary underwater breathing to others, Aquakinesis
Aqua Riders are ‘born’ when a CalamityJane is forcibly drowned and manages to revive from her own death. Their skull aura is a large field of water, which takes a bubble shape around them. They tend to be calmer in demeanor than their sister breeds, favoring staves and/or flails of varying types for weapons and watercraft for vehicles. They are capable of temporarily granting the ability to breath underwater to their Tamer and/or Harem Sisters, allowing for underwater exploration with their Tamer. They are rarely found outside of coastal areas.

Murdered by Bullets, Plasma, or Metal Blades: Steel Rider
Element:Ghost/Steel
Strong Vs: Ice, Rock, Bug, Poison, Psychic
Weak Vs: Electric, Fire, Ground, Dark
Attacks: Iron Punch, Hard Drive, Meteor Mash, Plasma Blast, Plasma Strikes
Enhancements: Steel affinity, plasma generation, Enhanced Durability (x9)
Steel Riders are ‘born’ when a CalamityJane is killed via bullets, swords, or plasma blasts. Their skull aura takes the form of a collar of metallic blades around their skeletal area, one that can expand for in close combat. Their personality tends to be fiercer than one would expect for a Steel-type, the daredevil nature of the GhostRider taking full advantage of their greater endurance to launch vicious frontal attacks. They tend to favor smashing weapons, and have no real preference for vehicles. They can generate plasma energy auras briefly around their skulls for energy attacks, increasing their vicious appearance.

Murdered by Burying Alive: Dirt Rider
Element: Ghost/Ground
Strong Vs: Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, Steel, Bug, Fighting, Psychic
Weak Vs: Flying, Ice, Plant, Water, Dark
Attacks: Dig, Tectonic Slam, Quagmire Twister, Resonate, Gut Punch
Enhancements: Ground affinity, Enhanced Endurance (x5), Ground phasing
Dirt Riders tend to be among the calmer breeds of GhostRider. ‘Born’ from the especially cruel death of being buried alive, they tend to have a bitter nature about them. Instead of a burst of elemental energy that accompanies their transformation into battle mode, the flesh simply crystallizes into sand and dissolves off their bodies, save for a collar of dirt and sand around their shoulders. They gain the ability to phase through the ground, although they cannot phase through solid rock. They tend to favor cutting projectile weapons, such as shuriken and knives, and vehicles that are capable of going through heavy terrain.

Murdered by Crushing: Mountain Rider
Element: Ghost/Rock
Strong Vs: Bug, Electric, Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, Psychic
Weak Vs: Ground, Plant, Steel, Water, Dark
Attacks: Rock Throw, Unmovable, Sonic Wave, Shock Spike, Stone Punch, Rage Punch
Enhancements: Rock affinity, Enhanced Durability (x7), Enhanced Strength (x7), Seismic vibrations
Mountain Riders are among the second rarest GhostRiders, and among the more recent to appear. ‘Born’ when a CalamityJane’s corpse is reanimated and rebuilt from being crushed, usually via an unnaturally induced avalanche or beating to death with solid stone, they are among the stronger of GhostRider breeds. They tend to be more stalwart than their sister breeds, and are among the few GhostRiders to favor defensive styles of attack rather than direct blitzing. They can generate light seismic vibrations to help them bore through solid rock, allowing them to create tunnels through mountains. Their skull aura takes the form of a collar of stone around their skeletal area.

Murdered by Poison: Toxic Rider
Element: Ghost/Poison
Strong Vs: Bug, Fighting, Plant, Rock
Weak Vs: Ground, Dark
Attacks: Poison, Poison Powder, Poison Lash, Poison Mist, Exhausting Venom
Enhancements: Poison affinity, Poison infusion
Toxic Riders are ‘born’ when a CalamityJane dies of poisoning. Their skull aura is a cloud of greenish purple poison. They tend to be crueler than their sister GhostRiders, and are more tactically oriented than their sister breeds. They tend to fight using more strategic methods, using their poisons to wear down their opponents. They tend to favor lashing weapons and small land vehicles. They can infuse powerful toxins into their opponent or an object through their fingertips.

Murdered by Beating to Death: Fight Rider
Element: Ghost/Fighting
Strong Vs: Bug, Ice, Normal, Rock, Steel, Fighting, Poison, Rock
Weak Vs: Flying
Attacks: Gust Punch, Chi Blast, Comet Punch, Gatling Kick, Seismic Toss
Enhancements: Fighting affinity, Enhanced Agility (x7), Enhanced Strength (x8), Chi generation
CalamityJanes that die through being beaten to death by an opponent’s fists are reanimated as a Fight Rider. They are among the calmer of GhostRider breeds, tending to have the personality of a dedicated warrior. Their skull aura is unique in that it isn’t constantly manifested, an aura of chi that appears as dark blue electricity that occasionally sparks around their heads. They tend to favor gloves and grieves as weapons, preferring to use their own hands in battle, and prefer light vehicles that rely on self-propulsion, such as bikes and skates.

Murdered by Electrocution: Thunder Rider
Element: Ghost/Electric
Strong Vs: Electric, Flying, Steel, Water, Bug, Fighting, Poison, Psychic
Weak Vs: Dragon, Ground, Plant, Dark
Attacks: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Zapring, Lightning Whip
Enhancements: Electric affinity, Electrokinesis, Enhanced Speed (x5)
CalamityJanes that die from electricity are reanimated as Thunder Riders. Their skull aura is a fierce field of electricity. They tend to be among the most manic of GhostRider breeds, many having a tendency towards mad laughter mid-battle. They are fierce combatants, finding battle to be arousing, and this carries over to Taming in their normal. They tend to favor guns as weapons, and tend to have no real preference in terms of vehicles beyond speed.

Murdered by a Dragon-type: Draco Rider
Element: Ghost/Dragon
Strong Vs: Dragon, Electric, Fire, Plant, Water. Bug, Fighting, Poison, Psychic, Rock
Weak Vs: Ice, Dark
Attacks: Dragonbreath, Dragon Rage, Dragon Claw, Twister
Enhancements: Dragon affinity, Wing-aided flight, Tail, Enhanced Strength (x9), Enhanced Durability (x5)
The rarest of all GhostRider types, there is only one known to exist, created from an Edo League CalamityJane murdered by a DragonQueen. The skull aura of a Dragon Rider is unique, in that her skull changes to becoming an animalistic dragon skull surrounded by greenish flames. Skeletal wings and a tail sprout from the back of the Dragon Rider, allowing them to fly unaided and abolishing the need for vehicles. The Dragon Rider seemed to prefer claws for weapons, and showed the most savagery of all GhostRider breeds.

Murdered by Magic: Mystic Rider
Element: Ghost/Magic
Strong Vs: Fighting, Poison, Psychic, Rock, Fire
Weak Vs: Dark, Steel
Attacks: Burst, Mana-Bolt, Heal, Teleport, Rune Chain
Enhancements: Magic affinity, Spellcasting/Aurakinesis
Mystic Riders are ‘born’ when a CalamityJane is killed by a magical attack. Their skull aura is a shifting mass of colorful energy. Their personalities tend towards mirth, with a strong tendency towards playful pranks. They love games, and like to play with their Tamers. They favor magic wands and staves as weapons, and tend to enchant rugs for vehicles.

Murdered by Psychic Powers: Mind Rider
Element: Ghost/Psychic
Strong Vs: Fighting, Poison, Rock
Weak Vs: Dark
Attacks: Dominate, Telekinesis, Flash, Psi-Blade, Confusion, Double-Team
Enhancements: Psychic affinity, Telekinesis, Telepathy
Mind Riders are unusual even among an unusual breed. Their skull aura is an invisible telekinetic field that constantly floats small objects around the skeletal head of the Mind Rider. Like Toxic Riders, they are tactical fighters, their personalities tending towards deep thought. Their tactics tend to be more aggressive than Toxic Riders, though, combining disabling attacks with fierce telekinetic blows. They favor short-range edged weapons and tend to favor a flying platform of stone, reshaped via their enchantment, as their vehicle.

Murdered by Freezing or otherwise Ice-related Death: Frozen Rider
Element: Ghost/Ice
Strong Vs: Bug, Poison, Psychic, Dragon, Flying, Ground, Plant
Weak Vs: Fire, Steel, Dark
Attacks: Ice Beam, Icicles, Ice Floor, Heat Drain, Cold Snap
Enhancements: Ice affinity, Cryokinesis
Frozen Riders are in every way the coldest of the GhostRiders. ‘Born’ from freezing or an ice-related death, they are generally near emotionless. It takes the most intense of situations to get them to show emotions. Their skull aura is a thick mass of ice that shrouds their skeletal area completely. They tend to favor smashing weapons and edged weapons, and have no real preference in terms of vehicles. Their battle style can best be described as ‘stalker,’ as they seem to treat each fight as something more akin to a ‘hunt.’

Death from Old Age: Phantom Rider
Element: Ghost
Strong Vs: Normal, Psychical attacks in general
Weak Vs: Dark
Attacks: Energy Drain, Night Shade, Ghost Blade, Phantom Blade, Soul Fist, Phase
Enhancements: Astral affinity, Ectokinesis
Seconded in rarity only by the Dragon Rider, there are only three known cases of a Ghost Rider being forged from a CalamityJane that lived a full life and died of old age. The purpose behind their reanimation (which comes with a de-aging to a youthful form when they change into Phantom Riders) is unknown, as they do not immediately go on a vengeance quest like other breeds do, but they do seem to move with a purpose. Their skull aura is a phantasmal mass of white energy that looks vaguely like floating slime. They tend to favor swords as weapons, and have no real preference on vehicles.

The best guess on Phantom Riders is that they were revived to protect someone that the Megami-sama that revived them thought needed defending. They do as they are requested, but in two cases the Ghost Rider had become very resentful towards Celestials in general...

Murdered via Defenestration: Wind Rider
Element: Ghost/Flying
Strong Vs: Ghost, Psychic, Bug, Fighting
Weak Vs: Dark, Electric, Rock, Magic
Attacks: Wing Attack, Dive, Mach Breaker, Gravity, Feather Shuriken, Gust, Squall, Tempest
Enhancements: Metamorphic Wings, Aerokinesis, Gravikinesis
This particular GhostRider is ‘born’ when they are reanimated from a CalamityJane that has died from defenestration, which is to say that they were thrown from a high place. They are unusual from other GhostRiders in that they do not feel the need for a vehicle, as they feel the wind is vehicle enough for them. Like the Dragon Rider, they grow wings, although their wings are organic in nature and possessed of feathers. Their skull aura is a constant cyclone of wind that varies in intensity depending on their mood. Most consider Wind Riders to be the most pleasant to be around, as they tend to have the most amiable personality.

Murdered via Strangling: Dark Rider
Element: Ghost/Dark
Strong Vs: Ghost, Psychic, Poison, Rock
Weak Vs: Normal, Magic (light based)
Attacks: Dark Blade, Tackle, Takedown, Ashen Wings, Dark Shield, Dark Bomb, Heart of Darkness
Enhancements: Shadowkinesis, Shadowmelding, Enhanced Speed (x5 in the dark)

It is fitting that the darkest of GhostRiders be created from the body of a CalamityJane who died in a manner considered to be among the darkest of deaths. Those who died in this cruel manner come back with a cruel streak themselves, and a tendency to go for strangulation attacks. They also tend to have claustrophobia, a trait shared with Mountain Riders and Dirt Riders. They also become very nervous if their necks are touched, and tend to refuse to wear anything around their necks. They favor chains and whips as weapons, and have no real preference in terms of vehicle. Their skull aura is a cloud of dark energy that shrouds their skulls for the most part.
