The exact date of the Imp's creation is unknown—Vale was quite secretive in regards to this Pokegirl, and it was not until the year 211 that the Leagues became aware of their existence. It is in no small part due to these Pokegirls that Vale’s reputation as the world’s foremost academy of magic has survived the growth of the newer schools of the arcane. However, due to the Thaumaturgy Incident of 252, a fair number of the breed have escaped from Vale—while the majority of the breed still belong to the institute, a fair portion have been captured by Vale’s rivals in the education of magic. Both Vale and the other schools of magic have placed high bounties for the live capture of this ‘girl in order to increase their own reputation and standards of magical education (and in the case of Vale, to prevent their rivals from obtaining the breed).

At the time of their creation, the hatred of Pokegirls was significantly stronger than it is today, due to the survival of so many who had suffered through the war and the death of so much of humankind, and the chaos that followed the war. The Imp, in addition to serving as an aid to magic-users, was also intended to serve to inure students to Pokegirls, as living beside Magic-type Pokegirls was part-and-parcel of existence in Vale. As such, they were designed to be inhuman enough that they were obviously not real girls, but attractive enough that they would appeal even to those with a strong… dislike of their kind.

Vale magicians originally believed that raw sensuality would be the most effective attractant. However, while sexual interactions were common, the humans with a strong dislike of Pokegirls that had this breed continued to behave negatively towards Pokegirls and those associated with them. The next batch of Imps were created along a different line of attractiveness, one designed to make emotional bonds easier to form.

Their features are magically designed to be adorable. Horns adorn their head, ranging from one to four, and very in position and shape from individual to individual. Although skin tone is typically dark, darker shades are by no means the only ones found in the breed; aside from skin tone (which is typically within the human norm), hair and eye color run the gamut from human standard to the completely abnormal. A thin tail of moderate length emerges from their spine, typically ending without adornment. The most unusual aspect of their appearance, however, would be their wings—whereas Pokegirl wings are typically designed to be able to support their weight, the Imp’s wings extend no more than two or three feet to each side. While seemingly vestigial, they are necessary for flight. Although cuteness is predominant amongst the breed, some Imps do exist that are descended from the original batch that was created to be more sexual and sensuous.

As previously mentioned, the primary purpose of the Imp is to serve and assist magic-users. This is accomplished primarily through their ability to increase the magical power and precision of those spells cast in their immediate vicinity. This allowed their masters to use magic at less cost to themselves, and can also be used to increase the power of the moves of another Magic-type Pokegirl. Beyond that, they also possess a perfect memory—considering that most Imps live in places of magical learning, this means that their knowledge of the eldritch and arcane is truly incredible. Beyond that, all of their senses are also heightened; this allows them to more accurately recognize possible mistakes in spellcasting motions, rituals, runes, potions, incantations, or other such magical endeavors. Mages involved in alchemical activities or magical writings often make use of Imps, both for increased chances of success and for their own safety.

The Imp’s ability to bond differs slightly from that of other Pokegirls. While they do form Alpha and Delta Bonds normally, they possess the ability to enhance (for lack of a better word) their existing bond to their master to another level, referred to as a Familiar Bond, although this can only be formed if their master is capable of using magic. This bond allows the Tamer to pull magical energy from the Imp’s own vast stores of power; furthermore, should a spell require the Tamer to concentrate upon it, the Imp is capable of maintaining such concentration in place of the Tamer, allowing their master to continue with other tasks. However, in other respects this bond is identical to what it was before becoming a Familiar Bond—indeed, there have been recordings of a Familiar Alpha Bond ascending to a Familiar Delta Bond. It is impossible for a Familiar Bond to be broken through anything less than Recognition or a magically-enhanced Level Five Taming Cycle.

The area about an Imp in which they can enhance magic is quite limited, ranging less than a foot from their body in most cases. As it would be inconvenient to have to remain in close contact so frequently, particularly in dangerous situations or during lengthy spellwork, the Vale mages had to come up with a method to enable Imp and master to stay in contact longer—the metamorphic abilities of many Pokegirls were the solution. Imps are capable of reducing themselves to truly diminutive sizes—the smallest recorded was a mere six inches tall, and thusly fully capable of riding about on their owner’s shoulder or in their pockets, close at hand for any spellcasting need.

Despite their high magical power and knowledge of spellcraft, Imps are almost completely incapable of actually using magic—a flaw designed into them by their creators. Imps were supposed to empower their owners, not be powerful in and of themselves. Their Magic-type attacks are likewise quite weak, and considering their lack of physical ability they are generally regarded as one of the least combat-suited Pokegirl breeds around. However, in two-on-two matches they can serve well, so long as their ally is another Magic-type; while they may need to be protected (as their role would be purely support), an intelligent Magic Pokegirl could make use of their improved abilities to devastating effect.

Sexually speaking, Imps are… impressive. Not only do they possess several of the more supernatural sexual techniques, but they are also capable of causing intense magical energy to course through their body, creating a vibrating effect similar to the PsiVibe. Beyond that, though, Imps tend to be very imaginative Pokegirls, and this extends into the bedroom (or anywhere else, really—Imps aren’t very picky about such things). In a manner similar to the fairy ‘girls, Imps have been known to shrink themselves and serve as ‘living dildos’, or reduce in size until even the smallest penis is a snug fit. A daring sexual streak seems to be prevalent in the breed, as well—it is rather common for a shrunken Imp to climb into their master’s pants and stimulate them while their master is involved in something unrelated or is in public, which can obviously cause… difficulties.

Imps were not permitted to go Feral in Vale, and thusly it was not until they escaped that their Feral state became known—their designers had never even considered that they might become Feral. Such Imps exude intense amounts of magical energy without cease, far more than they can normally (indeed, they emit more magic per day when Feral than they would normally generate in a week while Tamed). This tends to have a seemingly random warping effect on their environment and those they interact with for lengths of time—Tamers are advised to Tame wild Imps very quickly. While their creators had not thought about them having the opportunity to go Feral, they did consider their reproduction—it is impossible to Threshold into an Imp.
