It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s... an Ingenue? Meet the Sidekick, an Ingenue with elemental powers.

During the Revenge War, Ingenue were sent to infiltrate human-controlled areas, by passing as humans, then expose themselves to evolution triggers and wreak havoc in their new form. One of the most typical methods of enabling an Ingenue to carry out this tactic was to give her a packaged elemental stone and instructions to open the package once she was within enemy territory, transforming her into a Sidekick with a dangerous elemental affinity.

Because many Sidekick and Ingenue agents were captured during the War, Ingenue are incredibly common nowadays, and Sidekick is still one of the easiest ways to evolve an Ingenue. Testing has proved that even the elemental stone is not actually necessary: an Ingenue can evolve into a Sidekick simply by prolonged, intense training in conditions and environments relevant to the desired Sidekick form. A Sidekick cannot train herself into a different kind of Sidekick through further training, but because of her retained Normal affinity, she can sometimes learn to use techniques of another element to compliment her own skill set, making fighting a well-trained Sidekick an exercise in expecting the unexpected.

Physically, Sidekicks change little from their appearance as Ingenue, and can frequently pass themselves off as Ingenue (or rarely other Very Near Human pokegirls) with little difficulty. Some Tamers have reported their Sidekicks to become more athletic or curvaceous in build, but that may merely be the effect of intense training.

The telltale physical sign of a Sidekick is the mask that appears on her face when she uses her elemental powers. This mask’s design usually reflects her elemental affinity, but can range from discreet to elaborate to ostentatious depending on the preferences of the Sidekick. Some Sidekicks, especially the Luchadora subtype, play up the idea of having an alter-ego to go with the mask, and may insist on having an entire matching costume.

Personality-wise, there is a distinct behavior that Sidekicks exhibit. A Sidekick inevitably follows a leading figure, such as a Tamer or an alpha pokegirl, and assists them while behaving in a way that foils or opposes the personality of the “leader”-- a solemn leader will have a lighthearted Sidekick, a knowledgeable leader will have a Sidekick who is always asking questions, and a comical leader will have a serious, often snarky Sidekick. If her “leader” changes, such as a trade, the Sidekick will readily adjust her own behavior to foil her new leader. Some Tamers or alpha pokegirls find this counterpart behavior annoying; others find it endearing or even helpful, since their Sidekick may offer a useful different perspective on situations.

Since Sidekicks are versatile and retain the independence and docility of their previous form, they are often seen outside of combat roles, performing services suited to their skill set and affinity.

Threshold Sidekicks are fairly rare, but tend to crop up in families with strong Ingenue and elemental-pokegirl tendencies, as the latter provides the elemental influence that would cause the former to evolve. They fetch good prices from Tradesmen and Tamers alike.

Feral Sidekicks still seek and follow a leader, trying to be helpful to the best of their abilities and usually making things worse, or getting killed and eaten if they are trying to follow a predatory feral. Once in a while, one pursues a Tamer or a tame pokegirl, making it a simple matter to bed her.

Blaze, the Wonder Warmth Girl (Normal/Fire)
Subtype Enhancement: Elemental Absorbtion (Fire), Heat Aura, Pyrokinesis, Enhanced Endurance (x2)
Strong Vs: Bug, Plant, Ice, Steel, Ghost
Weak Vs: Rock, Water, Ground, Fighting
Attacks: Fire Floor, Power Drive, Ember, Flame Sniper, Burning Hands, Flame Shot, Ignite, Napalm, Warm Embrace
Evolution: Fire Stone OR prolonged training in hot or volcanic environment

Blaze Sidekicks usually wear a mask that looks like flames or smoke, but may be as subtle as a few glowing embers. Often, they have excellent tans from training under the hot sun, hair dyed in hot reds or blondes, a fiery passion equally quick to love or fury, and a taste for spicy food. Rarely, they are seen with blackened hands and feet, as if sooty, but which are actually clean.

Thanks to their endurance, durability, and power to absorb fire, Blaze Sidekicks are often found on firefighting teams, able to enter burning buildings in search of survivors. Others live less active lifestyles, and may be found in smithies or restaurants using their fire powers to heat wares.

Splash, the Wet N Wild Wonder Girl (Normal/Water)
Subtype Enhancement: Water Breathing, Underwater Vision, Hydrokinesis, Pressure Resistance
Strong Vs: Fire, Rock, Ground, Ghost
Weak Vs: Plant, Electric, Ice, Fighting
Attacks: Water Floor, Submerge, Bubbler, Whirlpool, Roiling Waters, Bubblebeam, Rush Splash, Watery Tentacles Seize, Water Barrier
Evolution: Water Stone OR prolonged training in/around large body of water

Splash Sidekicks usually wear masks in iridescent blues and greens to look like ocean waves, but may be as subtle as a few glittering droplets. Often, they have lean swimmers’ physiques, hair dyed in oceanic blues and greens, a mellow “go with the flow” personality with hidden depths, and a taste for salt or seafood. Rarely, they are seen with slightly webbed fingers and toes.

Because they are fully Amphibious, Splash Sidekicks are well-suited to work that requires being in deep water all the time, such as lifeguard work in swimming holes or ship escorts in busy or dangerous areas. Many practice water-based sports.

Liana, The Weedy Wonder Girl (Normal/Plant)
Subtype Enhancement: Photosynthesis (partial), Fast Healing (solar), Prehensile (vine), Empathy (plants)
Strong Vs: Rock, Water, Ground, Electric, Ghost
Weak Vs: Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice, Poison, Fighting
Attacks: Flower Strike, Command Plants, Grass Floor, Vine Whip, Leech Seed, Petal Armor, Rose Whip, Probing Tentacles, Vine Bondage
Evolution: Leaf Stone OR prolonged training in gardens/forest environment

Liana Sidekicks usually wear leafy and/or woody masks in greens or browns, or colorful floral masks, but may be as subtle as a faint bark pattern. Often, they wear leafy or floral accessories, have a lazy personality, dye their hair woodsy shades of brown and green, and practice a vegetarian lifestyle. When using their powers, a single long vine extends from the small of the back, which can be manipulated as a useable limb. Rarely, they are seen with woody hands and feet, but this seems not to impair movement.

Because their Photosynthesis reduces their need for food, Liana Sidekicks are well-suited to areas where food is harder to come by, often doing garden work so others will have enough to eat. Liana in wealthier areas often tend flower or moss gardens and practice flower arranging.

Skye, the Wingin’ It Wonder Girl (Normal/Flying)
Subtype Enhancement: Metamorph (avian), Flight (wings), Lightweight, Improved Respiration, Enhanced Speed x2
Strong Vs: Bug, Plant, Ghost, Ground
Weak Vs: Electric, Ice, Rock, Magic
Attacks: Gust, Fan, Feather Blizzard, Aerial Ace, Sonic Break, Aerial Rave, Current Shield, Empty Daggers, Edge of Delight
Evolution: Sky Crystal OR prolonged training in high-altitude environment (overlap with Jewel possible)

Skye Sidekicks usually wear feathery and/or beaked bird masks, sometimes in ridiculous colors, but may be as subtle as a few brown feathers close to skin tone. Often, they have slender builds, a flighty or lightheaded personality, feathery or streamlined hairstyles, and a taste for grains or (rarely) bugs. Rarely, they are seen with scaly prehensile feet.

In action, Skye are the least humanlike of the Sidekicks, as they turn their arms into feathery wings for flight and to use their powers. Because of their flight capabilities and high intelligence, Skye Sidekicks are well-suited to working as airborne messengers or escorts for aircraft.

Sparky, the Wonder Zeus Girl (Normal/Electric)
Subtype Enhancement: Intuitive Aptitude (technology), Affinity (tech), Magnetic Control (Novice), Enhanced Speed x2, Enhanced Agility x2
Strong Vs: Flying, Water, Steel, Ghost
Weak Vs: Ground, Dragon, Plant, Rock, Fighting
Attacks: Charge, Lightning Strike, Yoink!, Mag Throw, Static Barrier, Lightning Body, Thundershock, Flashwave, Pleasure Spark
Evolution: Thunder Stone OR prolonged training in high-voltage environment/thunderstorm

Sparky Sidekicks usually wear masks that look like electrical equipment or lightning motifs, but may be as subtle as a few wires or glittering spark or circuit designs. Often, they have wiry builds, a fidgety or hyperactive personality, static-filled hair in zany styles, and a predilection for strange flavors. Rarely, they are seen with metallic circuitry in hands and feet, which sometimes gets them confused with Cyber-Nymphs who also have circuitry on face and extremities.

Because of their Intuitive Aptitude, Sparky Sidekicks are well-suited to working with electrical or electronic equipment, and are employed in technology and maintenance services, though many have to be trained not to play pranks on the clients out of boredom first. They also often serve as a backup power source, usually with some hobby activity to occupy them while they are providing electricity. Handheld electronic games work well to keep one busy.

Midnight, the Dusk til Dawn Wonder Girl (Normal/Dark)
Subtype Enhancement: Darkvision (All), Shaded Eyes, Sleepless (3/24), Camouflage (Shadow Blend)
Strong Vs: Ghost, Psychic
Weak Vs: Bug, Fighting
Attacks: Light Drain, Dark Shield, Fake Out, Tenebrous Strike, Shadow Shot, Dark Redemption, Starburst, Kiss in the Dark, Lick in the Dark
Evolution: Dark Stone OR prolonged training by night, under an eclipse, or in a complete blackout

Midnight Sidekicks usually wear all-black masks, or blue-black ones covered in stars and moons, but may be as simple as dark, heavy makeup and/or a few glittering stars. Often, they have surprisingly perky natures and a preference for black clothing accented with white or red, and complementing hair colors and styles. Rarely, they are seen with skin that is gray, black, or alabaster-white.

Because of their perfect Darkvision, Midnight Sidekicks are well-suited to night watch work, and are often employed in security. A few have found interesting success in photography, since they can see perfectly well in darkrooms and don’t mind camera flashes. They are relatively common among Sidekicks because they can evolve in a short time under an eclipse or blackout conditions.

Psy'dkick, the Mental Wonder Girl (Normal/Psychic)
Subtype Enhancement: Telepathy, Danger Sense, Empathetic Aura
Strong Vs: Poison
Weak Vs: Bug, Dark
Attacks: Foresight, Disable, Emotion Bomb, Confusion, Psychic Shell, Telekinesis, Teleport, Psychic, Extrasensory Embrace
Evolution: Moon Stone OR [???]

Psy’dkicks usually wear heavy jewelry and masks with mystical colors or symbols on them, but may be as simple as a bindi or similar facial markings. Often, they have an insightful personality and a preference for exotic foods not from their native culture, and for the color purple, including dyed hair. Rarely, they are seen with mystical symbol markings on their hands and feet.

Because of their Telepathy and insightful natures, Psy’dkicks are well-suited to communications and diplomacy, and many work as interpreters for international politics. Some are also seen in law enforcement and criminal justice, and a few work for lawyers despite the prevalence of lawyer jokes. They are relatively rare because the conditions to evolve one without a Moon Stone are unknown.

Winter, the Winter Wonder Girl (Normal/Ice)
Subtype Enhancement: Weather Tolerance (Cold), Cold Aura (mild), Emotional Control, Hydrokinesis (Snow/Ice), Enhanced Endurance x2, Enhanced Durability (x2)
Strong Vs: Dragon, Flying, Ground, Plant
Weak Vs: Fighting, Fire, Rock, Steel
Attacks: Cold Shoulder, Ice Floor, Ice Strike, Ice Armor, Snow Storm, Ice Slide, Rime, Diamond Dust, Chilled Arousal
Evolution: Ice Crystal OR prolonged training in below-freezing conditions

Winter Sidekicks usually wear pale blue and white masks to resemble snow or ice, but may be as subtle as a few glittering snowflakes. Often, they have pale skin that is mildly cool to the touch (not enough to hamper Taming), frosty personalities, bleached pale hair, and a taste for mild flavors and hot soups. Rarely, they are seen with pale blue hands and feet.

Because of their Cold Weather Tolerance, Winter Sidekicks are well-suited to rescue work in mountainous areas, though many maintain a “frigid” or “cool” attitude about this to their wards, insisting that they only help because it’s their job to do so. In more civilized areas, they often help maintain industrial freezers and air-conditioning with their Cold Aura.

Dusty, the Won-dirt Girl (Normal/Ground)
Subtype Enhancement: Geokinesis, Recovery, Intuitive Aptitude (Mining, Construction), Innate Knowledge (Geology), Enhanced Strength (x2)
Strong Vs: Electric, Fire, Poison, Ghost
Weak Vs: Flying, Ice, Plant, Water, Fighting
Attacks: Mud Armor, Pratfall, Mud Slap, Soil Armor, Quick Fissure, Stomp, Quicksand, Muddy Arms, Mud Wrestle
Evolution: Diamond Stone OR prolonged training in dirt, mud, clay, etc.

Dusty Sidekicks usually wear earth-tone masks reminiscent of soil, sometimes even beautician-style mud masks, but may be as simple as a scattering of freckles or a few smudges of dirt. Often, they have a stout build, humble “down-to-earth” personalities, hair left in its natural colors, and a preference for root vegetables. Rarely, they are seen with hands and feet that seem always to be covered in dirt or grit, even after washing, but are actually clean.

Because of their Geokinesis, Dusty Sidekicks are well-suited to landscaping and construction work. Some also show an innate understanding of geology and a talent for mineral prospecting.

Wednesday, the Wonder Spook Girl (Normal/Ghost)
Subtype Enhancement: Enhanced Speed (x3), Fear Resistance, Aura of Calm (controlled)
Strong Vs: Bug, Ghost, Poison, Psychic
Weak Vs: Dark
Attacks: Phase, Ominous Wind, Wailing, Rip the Mortal Form, Cacophony, Invis, Night Shade, Pain Split, Lick
Evolution: Dream Stone OR prolonged training in haunted location, cemetery, or mausoleum

Many Wednesday Sidekicks do not wear masks at all, strangely for Sidekicks, though a few wear skull masks or face paint or heavy makeup. Some simply look very gaunt or pale. Often, they affect old-fashioned outfits and speech patterns, morbid personalities, hair dyed pitch-black, and a preference for strange meat products, especially offal or blood. They may be mistaken for Goths due to their similar fashion tastes. Rarely, they are seen with hands and feet that look withered or skeletal, but this seems not to impair movement.

Because of their Fear Resistance and speed, Wednesday Sidekicks are well-suited to dangerous or frightening situations where they have to move quickly and remain calm. In disaster scenarios, they can use Wailing and Cacophony to signal to others over quite a distance, while their Aura of Calm keeps allies from panicking. They have a strong fascination with the dead, making them excellent aides for undertakers and coroners, and a good treat for one is to take her to visit a cemetery or mausoleum, or a well-reputed haunted location.

Contamina, the Wonder Wilt Girl (Normal/Poison)
Subtype Enhancement: Intoxicant Resistance, Disease Resistance, Poison Glands (mist/dust, wide variety), Allure, Enhanced Flexibility
Strong Vs: Bug, Fighting, Plant, Poison
Weak Vs: Ground, Psychic
Attacks: Enervating Venom (mist), Exhausting Venom (mist), Acid Spit, Itchy Dust, Pepper Spray, Spice, Searing Spice, Passion Spice, Lust Dust
Evolution: Venom Stone OR prolonged training in toxic conditions

Contamina Sidekicks usually wear garishly-colored masks, often in sickeningly iridescent blacks, greens, and purples, but may be as simple as weird makeup. A few more humorous specimens have been noted to wear “Mister Yuck” masks. Often, they have sleazy attitudes and tacky or iridescent dyed hair, and enjoy eating substances known to be aphrodisiacs. Rarely, they are seen with hands and feet that seem to be covered in oil, tar, or even acid, but are actually clean.

Because of their poison tolerance and disease resistance, Contamina Sidekicks are well-suited to working with dangerous chemicals, and are often found in waste management, especially toxic wastes. Many also find work in riot control, turning violent chaos into sexual chaos with a liberal application of aphrodisiacs and exhaustion-inducing poisons until everyone is too exhausted to be violent any more. A few serve Harem Masters, making sure that everyone is ready for Taming whenever somebody needs it and that battles don't get -too- out of hand.

Wyrma, the Scaled-Up Wonder Girl (Normal/Dragon)
Subtype Enhancement: Enhanced Endurance (x2), Recovery, Regeneration (Slow), Hypnotic Immunity, Possession Immunity
Strong Vs: Dragon, Electric, Fire, Plant, Water, Ghost
Weak Vs: Ice, Fighting
Attacks: Draconic Aura, Twister, Enervate, Snap Dragon, Dragon Rage, Dragon Breath, Outrage, Armor Draconis, Seductive Glare
Evolution: Dragon Scale OR [???]

Wyrma Sidekicks usually wear masks with metallic scales and horns or beards depending on the kind of mythical dragon they are emulating, but may be as simple as a few scales. Often, they have proud and warlike or greedy personalities, hair dyed to match or complement their draconic masks, and an unusual fondness for dairy products. Rarely, they are seen with scaly or clawed hands and feet, or vestigial wings.

Because of their strength, Wyrma Sidekicks are popular with Tamers and well-suited to working as bodyguards. They are frequently seen assisting celebrities, and are relatively rare because it is unknown how to evolve one without a Dragon Scale.

Cootie, the Wonder Bug Girl (Normal/Bug)
Subtype Enhancement: Poison Glands (Hands), Natural Weapons (Stingers), Recovery, Enhanced Senses (vision, hearing, scent)
Strong Vs: Dark, Ground, Plant, Psychic, Ghost
Weak Vs: Fire, Flying, Rock
Attacks: Itchy Sting, Rapid Sting, Double Sting, Enervating Venom, Exhausting Venom, White Wind, Antitoxin, Love Sting
Evolution: Sun Stone OR prolonged training while covered in honey

Cootie Sidekicks usually wear masks with goggle eyes and antennae, but may be as simple as faceted contacts. Often, they are small, with sociable personalities, hairstyles that resemble antennae or other insect features, and a preference for sweets. Rarely, they have chitin plates on hands and feet, or vestigial wings or antennae.

A Cootie’s stingers are in the knuckles of her hands and feet. They retract, and are usually invisible until she brings them out for battle. Her hands and feet also contain well-hidden venom glands, though most Cooties only ever learn to produce two or three kinds of venom-- most develop a painful sting, and a sedative or aphrodisiac sting (or both), making them helpful in medical care to subdue unruly patients.

Because the process of evolving an Ingenue into a Cootie Sidekick is both fairly simple and quite sensual, they are relatively common Sidekicks, especially considering they would normally require an expensive Sun Stone.

Luchadora, the Masked Wonder Wrestler (Normal/Fighting)
Subtype Enhancement: Enhanced Strength (x3), Enhanced Agility (x2), Enhancement Shift (Strength/Agility)
Strong Vs: Bug, Dark, Ice, Normal, Rock, Steel
Weak Vs: Flying, Psychic, Fighting
Attacks: Bear Hug, Block the Student, Bulk Up, Chain Throw, Rolling Kick, Body Slam, Flying Kick, Super Jump Tackle, Sexy Hug
Evolution: Round Stone OR prolonged training under other unarmed combat specialists

Luchadora Sidekicks usually affect an alter-ego and an entire costume to go with their masks, which are brightly-colored and boldly patterned according to a theme the pokegirl builds her alter-ego around. Often, they are extremely dramatic and theatrical while in-character, but relatively mellow out-of-character. The mask is important to a Luchadora, and for someone to strike or remove her mask is a grave affront that will send her into an unstoppable rage. In battle, they can shift between a more brutal “rude” style characterized by extreme strength and a more agile “technical” style characterized by nimble acrobatics. They often favor grappling maneuvers, and short hairstyles that can’t be grabbed or yanked in return.

Rarely, a Fighting-type Sidekick will reject lucha-libre style flamboyance for more conventional wrestling, in which case she is instead called “Fling”. Fling Sidekicks usually affect very small, simple masks and avoid the alter-ego behavior, drama, and trappings of lucha libre wrestling, but are otherwise identical to Luchadora Sidekicks in terms of raw abilities.

Because of their dramatic behavior and acrobatic combat, Luchadora Sidekicks are well-suited to show business and performing arts. They are relatively common among Sidekicks, because it is easy to find martial artists (or even other Luchadora Sidekicks) to train an Ingenue so she evolves into one.

Jewel, the Rock-Solid Wonder Girl (Normal/Rock)
Subtype Enhancement: Manifest (Stone Armor), Geokinesis, Internal Compass, Mineral Sense, Specalized Digestive System (requires additional minerals)
Strong Vs: Bug, Electric, Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, Rock, Ghost
Weak Vs: Fighting, Ground, Plant, Steel, Water
Attacks: Rock Wall, Blurring Form, Harden, Boulder Bullets, Flare, Quake, DynaWave, Stone Meld, Self Soften
Evolution: Shiny Stone OR training in mountains, badlands, or other rocky areas

Jewel Sidekicks, as the name suggests, wear masks resembling precious gemstones, sometimes as simple as a few gems. They often dye their hair in jewel tones whenever possible, affect gemstone names, and are often quite intellectual compared to other Rock-type pokegirls, with serious, logical personalities more typical of Ice-types. Unique among Sidekicks, they require mineral supplements to their diet; feeding one actual precious or semiprecious stones tends to act as an aphrodisiac, with stronger reactions to a higher-quality gem.

Because their Stone Armor enables them to withstand tremendous impacts, Jewel Sidekicks are well-suited to tasks where most pokegirls or people would take a pounding, such as demolitions. They often keep Zen gardens or pursue philosophy in free time. They were at one point thought to be a pre-evolved form of the Jade.
