Like the Kangasscunt, only the inhabitants of the Orange continent (now the Orange Islands) knew that this seemingly cute and fuzzy koala pokegirl was capable of more damage than they seemed. The rest of the world had a sharp learning curve. Koalasses are considered a 'cute and cuddly' breed, though their fighting skills make them dangerous opponents. In modern times, the breed is often seen in construction, logging, and other various areas as well as in combat harems.

Covering the wide range of the Near Human bell curve, this marsupial based breed only lacks the distinctive pouch. Those of the breed that appear closest to human have only ears and tails though their noses are typically broad and flat no matter what the skin color. In anthromorphic members of the breed, fur colors tend to be slate gray with white and/or cream on the stomach. Black 'highlights' to the fur is also common. Muzzles, if any, are very light and feet can be either plantigrade or digigrade, though this usually follows how anthromorphic the individual is. Hair colors can be any color of the rainbow, but are commonly slate gray or earth tones. The Koalass is a rather short pokegirl, usually ranging in height from 4-4.5 feet (1.22 - 1.37 meters) and they typically are less buxom which adds to their overall 'cute' appearance.

Due to the breed's emotional control, these ground-plant pokegirls are often described as cool headed, introspective, or quiet. Unlike most pokegirl breeds that have emotional control, Koalasses still feel their emotions, though they are actively able to suppress them. For some, particularly thresholders, this takes practice, while some domestic and feralborne breeds have to practice the opposite and learn to let their emotions out once in a while. Despite their reputations for introspection, the breed does lean towards above average human intelligence, and can often make for effective Alphas or Betas.

Many tamers and pokegirls alike have been fooled by this breed's cute exterior, and taken serious damage from the ground-plant type's claws. Koalass claws have been rumored to be sharp enough to injure a steel pokegirl's skin, though this has been tested and proven to be a use of the sabre claw technique. A favored tactic among the breed is to literally drop down on opponents from above, usually accomplished by pouncing, clinging to their Lance technique, or climbing available terrain. Flower Strike and clawing techniques are favored at close range once the pokegirl pounces her opponent. Attacking from a distance is recommended when battling a Koalass, as well as using elements with an edge on the pokegirl's on.

While this breed typically molds their preferences to their tamer's, some common preferences have been noted. Koalasses enjoy more active positions, such as clinging to a standing tamer or being on top. It is speculated that the breed prefers these due to their similarities in climbing trees and logs, as ferals of the breed prefer to stay off the ground and the act may be instinctual.

Wild members of the breed spend nearly their entire lives in trees, jumping from one to another and even gathering water from leaves. Perfectly happy to sit quietly feeding on leaves for days, the breed rarely bothers human habitations. Koalasses can be dangerous, however, as they will become aggressive if threatened and more than one tamer has claimed the breed to be 'death from above'. This phrase is sometimes literally true as both tamers and pokegirls have been lost due to this breed's claws.

Threshold directly into a Koalass is rare, but has been well documented. Acute stomach upset over meat products is generally the first sign of transformation, followed by claw, ear, and tail growth. Aside from light cosmetic changes to the face, close to human appearing pokegirls are usually done thresholding at this point, though anthromorphic thresholders still have fur growth and possibly bone shifts to the feet to complete their own transformations. Fur growth, unlike many cases, is unremarkable aside from adjusting to having fur. Bone shifts for those becoming digigrade usually render the pokegirl-to-be unable to walk due to the pain, and most are sent to pokecenters for the remainder of their transformation.
