Created late in the war, these pokegirls were designed as long range aerial support for Sukebe’s armies of land based pokegirls. Unknown at the time, these pokegirls had two major flaws, the first being that these pokegirls tend to have trouble with fine control of their abilities. The few times these pokegirls were used in large scale battles there were many casualties on both sides attributed to this breed. The second main flaw Sukebe found is that most of the original batch of Shinryus chose to run away rather than harm others. Many of these original pokegirls that escaped either found tamers away from the front lines or went feral. Almost all members of this breed today retain this inability to control the amount of damage they deal leading to the breed to be considered a liability in urban combat. Luckily enough for those combat tamers in possession of this breed, most modern Shinryus lack the fear of hurting others that plagued the original batch, though reports of individuals refusing their tamer's orders to attack have been noted. Most of these pokegirls end up being run through a level 5 taming cycle, which seems to clear up the issue.

The physical transformation that these pokegirls go through upon evolving can be quite extensive or they can show almost no changes at all depending on their pre-evolved form. Shinryus that evolved from Thundermaidens, when in their bipedal form, retain their very near human appearance. Although those of the Oni variety lose any of their inhuman characteristics, besides possible exotic hair and eye colors. Thundnagas, once exposed to a dragon scale, lose their long serpentine bodies, allowing them to transform into a bipedal very near human state. Physically these pokegirls can vary wildly in their hair color, eye color, breast size and height and, like most very near human pokegirls, these parameters generally run the gamut of human appearances. Though, hair and eye colors can be almost any color in the visible spectrum. Build and skin tone likewise can vary within human norms.

Upon shifting into their serpentine forms, these pokegirls fall into two different categories. Thundermaiden evolved pokegirls generally see the greatest change upon evolving. In this form, these pokegirls become fully animalistic, gaining scales that cover their entire bodies. Dragon E-metal evolved Shinryus often have full muzzles full of sharp teeth and gain large antlers on their foreheads that often come in metallic shades. Those evolved from the Thundnaga often see a less drastic change to their appearances. While they have the same type of antlers as their more scaly sisters, their upper bodies retain a human-like appearance. Personal preference for which form they prefer to be in varies by individual. Often, more animalistic individuals evolved from the formerly very near human Thundermaiden prefer to stay in their more human-like form for everything except battle, while Shinryu evolved from Thundnagas have a tendency to prefer their long serpentine forms. Though, variation has been noted in individuals of either ancestry. While most Thundnaga evolved members of this breed have lower bodies that resemble other Naga evolved breeds, one of the most surprising aspects of this evolution is that those Shinryus that evolved from or have Thundermaiden ancestry tend to have 4 limbs in addition to the two that are on their humanoid torso. These limbs are relatively short, around a meter in length and contain 5 clawed digits, attaching to the sides of their lower bodies around a meter from where their lower bodies attach to their humanoid torso and around 2 meters from the tip of their long scaly tails, which generally matches the color of their hair. Shinryus are long, often ranging from 4 and a half to 7 and a half meters (15-25 feet). Other than the possible addition of these limbs, the lower halves of these pokegirls are similar to other snake like breeds, which start just under their vaginas, which, while similar in appearance to that of a human's, is completely forward facing and in the area of a human woman’s mons pubis.

Without their long serpentine bodies, Shinryus are somewhat limited. It should be noted that these pokegirls are unable to fly in their bipedal form, the antlers on the foreheads being the focal points of their electromagnetic abilities. In addition to this they also lack the ability to use their more powerful electric techniques while in their human forms. Luckily Shinryus aren't totally helpless in this state. Being partially magical in nature, along with their ability to use the technique energy blade, these pokegirls have an instinctive knowledge of electric and storm generation magic. Upon transformation, regardless of whether they evolved from a Thundermaiden or a Thundnaga, the battle form of the Shinryu is a sight to behold. With a combination of their enhanced flight speed and their offensive abilities, Shinryus are often used as long range bombardment forces. They generally prefer to fly over their target and attack their enemies with maximum force before zooming away. These pokegirls often have trouble holding back their full power and generally have little fine control, leaving them a liability in delicate operations and group battles. Researchers that have studied this breed have suggested that breeds ability to absorb electricity numbs their ability to determine how much electricity is being generated at any one time, diminishing their capacity to judge how much damage they are doing. In non-combat situations these pokegirls are capable of flying at near their full speed with a passenger on their backs, leaving them most often as transport for tamers in situations where their normal tactics would be a hindrance. Despite these drawbacks, Shinryus are capable battlers in wide open spaces where property damage and the possibility of friendly fire aren't a problem. Overall, these pokegirls often do extremely well against elemental types that they are strong against, while generally do poorly against those elements they are weak to. Applying their usual ''boom and zoom'' tactics, they tend to teleport and phase in to attack then teleport away before their opponents can retaliate.

Both Thundermaidens and Thundnagas are known for their jealous or moody personalities. Upon evolving most tend to take on a new outlook on life. Many Shinryu have been described as bubbly and overly eager to please. While they lack the inherent ditzy and clumsy personality of the Bunnygirl and Bimbo, they can get in the way of others unintentionally. In a harem, these pokegirls tend to be overly friendly with their tamer and harem sisters. This over exuberance and all or nothing attitude, that often leads them to either be a powerful ally or a detriment on the battle field bleeds into their personal life. When it comes to taming these pokegirls are often very giving and like to give pleasure to their partners, regardless of whether their partner is a human or pokegirl. While taming habits vary from individual to individual, they generally love full body contact and kissing. Many Shinryus are perfectly happy to let their tamer, regardless of the gender, lay back while they orally please them.

When feral, Shinryus revert to a completely animalistic state, though most have a friendly and inquisitive nature. Often found in forested and mountainous regions, most feral members of this breed that have been captured were found after secretly following around random tamers and their harems for weeks, often stealing food and random objects, before being discovered. Generally non-aggressive, Shinryus often try to flee when confronted. Due to their enhanced fight speed, it is recommended to use stealthier tactics rather than a frontal assault when trying to subdue these ferals. Threshold cases are rare but becoming more common in girls with a history of Shinryus in their families. Luckily, threshold into a Shinryu is generally quick and painless. For most girls, threshold often goes unnoticed until they accidentally transform into their battle form when under stress or are overly excited. The appearance of their battle forms is often dependent on the ancestry.
