The MudPuppy was originally created to serve as a warrior in the marshes of the world during Sukebe’s War, and as such excelled in that terrain. However, the tactics they showed almost immediately after they were first deployed found many of them playing another role in the war. They were used to remove those human soldiers who dared don scuba gear and dive under the surface in quieter and less noticeable way than other Pokégirls might have. Their ability to breathe both air and water made them strongly desired for attacks on ships, as they could sneak aboard the ship to eliminate choice human targets and disable their weaponry, making the ships nothing more than targets for the more powerful Water-type Pokégirls that often accompanied them.

MudPuppies come in a variety of appearances. Some are indistinguishable from humans save for their ears and tail, while others are almost completely anthropomorphic. One thing they all have in common, however, is the color of their fur. A MudPuppies fur and hair are always a shade of brown, although what shade ranges from the lightest shade of coffee to a shade indistinguishable from black. Their height increases only slightly from their previous form, gaining two inches at the most, and their breasts can increase by as much as 1 ½ cup sizes, or not change at all. Their eyes are large, cute, and open, perfect for the use of the Puppy Dog Eyes attack.

MudPuppies never reached any great numbers in the War; the number of swamps and marshes in the world were not high enough for them to fight often in their preferred environment, and the role they served in the assaults on ships could be done well enough by other Pokégirls, making the production of large amounts of the MudPuppy breed an inefficient use of precious resources. After the Revenge War, their popularity grew a great deal, almost to the level of the Growltit and Doggirl, and their population increased to a more sustainable level as the breed spread throughout the world.

The reason for their popularity can be seen largely through one thing; their love for wrestling in the mud. As one MudPuppy Pokéwoman said, “men love half-naked females, men love half-naked women making each other more naked, men love women wrestling, and everything’s better with mud”. Although MudPuppies are skilled martial combatants, they also love to put on a show. It is this need to show off (and a love for mud) that leads to their abilities with mud wrestling. Everybody has to look at two women grappling in a pit of mud. MudPuppy fights in the PokéBattle arena are visited as much by sex battle enthusiasts as by those who prefer to watch typical combat, for MudPuppy battles have been known to blur the line between the two.

When combat begins, most MudPuppies will start combat with the Mud Wrestle move, turning the ground around them to a muddy pit. The purpose of this move is fourfold; not only does it improve their other Ground-type moves, provide mud for their Mud Armor technique, and help them provide a show, but it also increases their physical power. MudPuppies gain a certain amount of power from being in contact with mud, which allows them to fight at the level they do despite their somewhat low physical enhancements. In addition to this, for some opponents the mud also interferes with their ability to move, or makes them slip. The MudPuppy, however, can move through mud as smoothly as it were water, and will take the opportunity to close with their opponent to use one of their many grappling techniques.

MudPuppies rarely walk around naked, preferring to wear eye-catching and revealing garments. They are careful to choose clothes that are easy to wash, however, as they wear their clothes into battle. Curiously, very few MudPuppies ever leave combat with all their clothes on. This is believed to be intentional, but no MudPuppy to date has confirmed this. MudPuppies love to show off in everything they do. Every action needs that extra flourish, every combat needs a climax. A MudPuppy would never deprive her beloved audience of entertainment by swiftly beating an opponent. They would rather play with their opponent, maybe even act as though they are loosing for a time, in order to make every fight as dramatic, fun, and entertaining as possible. Although those MudPuppies that evolved from Growltits lose their fire attacks, they do not mourn the loss, as they find their new abilities are sufficiently showy to more than make up for the lack of fire.

MudPuppies are not as proficient in sex battles as they are in PokéBattles, but they are nevertheless good contenders in that area. They still prefer to use Mud Wrestle early on, and with their flexibility they are capable of assuming a variety of exotic and unusual positions (many of which are derived from wrestling holds). They possess several good sex attacks, and they natural ability to entertain and show off often earns them high scores by the judges. They are enthusiastic partners for their Tamer inside (or outside!) the Taming room. They like to use the more revealing positions, even if no one is around, and love it when their Tamer does the more unusual and exotic acts; their least favorite positions are the ones that everyone else wants to do. They adore public sex, reveling in the attention their audience gives them.

Unlike many other canine-types, MudPuppies tend to be loners when Feral. They generally stay close to a source of water, and consider the area around them to be their territory, which they protect until driven away. They are fairly sociable Ferals, for the most part. Although they don’t travel in packs like other canine-types, they do sniff out visitors to their water, and are very playful. They are generally not a danger, unless their territory is threatened.

Thresholding into a MudPuppy is not a very common event. Most girls with MudPuppy heritage instead Threshold into a Growlie, Puppy, or Doggirl. When it does occur, it is a rather painful occurrence, although this pain can be mitigated by playing in the mud.
