The Bimbo is often referred to as Sukebe’s first mistake. This Pokegirl, it is believed, was an attempt to correct that mistake. Thus was created Sukebe’s second mistake. By filling the vast vacant vacuum of the Bimbo’s brain with the psychic energy of a Psi Crystal, the resulting Pokegirl was supposed to be a psychic powerhouse, a brilliant strategist and commander capable of incredible feats of intellectual genius. But all Sukebe got was the Muse.

Where they were supposed to obtain incredible telekinetic might, the Muse got nothing. Telepathy that was supposed to reach across hundreds of miles was only effective within seeing distance. What was supposed to be the ability to reach into their opponents minds and effortlessly crush their psyche became a meager thing, with Confusion being their most powerful attack. Even the psychic aura that Sukebe had designed specifically for the breed, that would disconnect the mental connections of any being without mental defenses that came close to them was weakened into ineffectualness.

The Muse is widely considered by Tamers to be one of the more useless Pokegirls one could possess. They possess very little of what a Tamer would desire; their combat abilities are sub-par, they possess few skills that would be useful in the wilds where the Feral Pokegirls roam, and although proficient at sex are by no means as skilled at Taming as a great many other Pokegirls are. However, amongst Pet Owners, particularly aspiring artists or writers, the Inspirational Pokegirl is a favorite.

The Muse was intended to be an impeccable strategist and a creative thinker capable of coming up with ingenious plans in the middles of combat. In this regard, the Muse could possibly be considered a success; they are very intelligent and insightful Pokegirls, with keen observational abilities. However, their creativity was put into overdrive, in a sense, and this excess of imagination can have negative effects on any plan the are involved in. It is this wellspring of creativity that, while possibly dangerous to a Tamer in the wild, makes them so valued to others.

The Muse’s abilities lend themselves perfectly to inspiring others in the arts, much like the mythological entities for which they are named. Their psychic aura, although not suited to violence and useless for defending them, is a potent tool for this. Instead of completely severing the all the mental connections of others, it instead only loosens certain parts of the mind; neurons fire more swiftly, information is processed more effectively, and, most importantly, ideas flow through the mind of those near to the Muse more frequently, more quickly and in greater detail. Their talents in telepathy and reading minds also comes into play here, allowing the Muse to create something of a connection with her master, using the Alpha bond as a foundation of the link with her master’s permission. With this connection in play, the mind of human and Muse are bound so tightly that the thoughts of each individual are indistinguishable from the other (although such a connection is only temporary, and can be very tiring if held for a great deal of time). This sharing of thoughts creates something of an ideal state for creation of any form, as the creativity and brilliance of the Muse combines with the more balancing effect of the human mind.

It is fortunate for Muses that they are so frequently obtained by artists, for the vast majority of the breed are fervent admirers of almost all forms of artistic expression, be it dance, music, writing, painting, or virtually anything else. Part of this would be because of the breed’s diet. Muses sustain their body through a combination of two sources of energy; the consumption of food, much like any human, and through absorbing the ambient brains waves of those about them. However, for the most part the energy of these waves is insufficient to nourish this Pokegirl; the greater brain activity of those with a great deal of mental activity, particularly activity in the regions of the brain devoted to developing new ideas, is necessary for the Muse to stay alive and healthy (although this means the breed is primarily attracted to artists, a not-inconsiderable portion of the breed prefers to stay close to scientists or other men of thought; it is even believed that the presence of a Muse is responsible for Sukebe’s seemingly endless ideas for new Pokegirls). Sadly, despite everything most Muses tend to be lackluster in their ability to create art themselves, which is believed to be due to either an intentional mental block made by Sukebe, or an unfortunate side effect of their creation.

It should also be mentioned that Muses are rather well known for being a good Pokegirl for expecting parents to have. Because curiosity and imagination are vital for their health, and very little is more imaginative than a child, they are generally willing to interact with kids. Furthermore, many Muses seem to have something of a natural gift for teaching, and as such can make excellent tutors for their master’s children. When combined with the patience many members of the breed evince, and their own imagination, they are often able to make excellent companions for one’s children.

In regards to their appearance, it would be quite easy to confuse a Muse for a human were it not for their faces. The face of any Muse has markings on it, unique to the individual. Although these rather frequently cause their faces to appear somewhat like masks, they can also look like whisker lines, geometric patterns, or virtually anything else. Other than that, they look quite like standard humans, covering the normal human sizes, although their bodies are generally simply more beautiful than what most humans could achieve (although this trait is apparent in most Pokegirls). But even if they were unattractive, Muses would rarely have problems obtaining Tamings, due to their psychic aura. Extended proximity to a Muse has been shown to have an effect often referred to as a very mild “psychic aphrodisiac”, but when combined with their mental link and the psychic feedback through said link, it can become rather more potent as time passes.

The Muse is rather unusual in that it is a much more dangerous Pokegirl when Feral than when Tamed. When a Muse goes Feral, she behaves rather dazedly, eating simply and often staring into the distance. This is because the Muse, while just as intelligent when Feral, is subject to an imagination that is far too overeager, and while Feral are only rarely able to discern reality from fiction. They are dangerous in that, while so delusional, their psychic aura is somehow strengthened. Those entering the area around her would be bombarded by constant, disjointed, surreal images as the figments of her imagination are project unto those around her; some of the images they have while Feral can be extraordinarily disturbing, and may cause a Type II Resonating Psychic Response, causing the person or Pokegirl who approached the Muse to suffer incapacitating migraines, sleep-depriving nightmares, and a heightened sensitivity towards psychic effects for a week or more, which can be extremely dangerous out in the wilds.

Thresholding into a Muse is extraordinary only in how plain it is. The facial markings don’t even show up right away, only appearing several weeks after Threshold is completed. The only signs parents may have of a potential Threshold would be an unexpected or unusual increase of interest in the arts or sciences.
