During the Revenge War, the Komortar served as the primary defense of several of Sukebe’s fortresses alongside pokegirl breeds like the Elephuck, raining fire and brimstone on the human forces that would attempt to break in. Just as notable was their use in offensive strategies against human forces, firing bombs deep into enemy encampments to take out vehicles and personnel. Another favored tactic was pairing them with pokégirls such as Brass and Rhynodames to lead assaults on enemy strongholds by having the Komortars punch holes in the fortress’ walls that the accompanying pokégirls would capitalize on before joining the battle in earnest.

They became increasingly common on the battlefield thanks to their efficiency, and drove fear into the hearts of most that saw them in action. Due to their involvement with the General Freya, and to a lesser extent, Danu; Atmuff began hunting them for sport, unknowingly aiding the humans in their campaign to exterminate the breed. Not long after the war, they were believed to be extinct. It wasn’t until a rather brief period later that they would be rediscovered.

Sometime after their supposed extinction, a recently started project to build a tunnel between two still stabilizing towns was plagued by a series of unexplained cave-ins and explosions. Tamers were called in to guard the workers and soon enough the source of the problem was discovered in the form of several members of an odd pokégirl breed. Researchers began studying the captured individuals and discovered that they were in fact Komortars. The breed didn’t get this name back until the late 200s, as they were thought a separate breed at first and called Dodongos due to an odd vocalizing they made when feral.

Komortars are large pokégirls, anywhere from 7 to 15 feet 6 inches tall (roughly 2.4 to 4.7 meters) on average, the shortest recorded at 6 feet 8 inches tall (roughly 2 meters). Their bodies are muscular, but softer than the extreme look of an Amachoke, with firm breasts; a D-cup at the smallest recorded (baring Anti-Bloom) and develops a slight paunch when processing materials for bombs. As their name suggests, they possess lizard-like features. Near human individuals usually have sleeker scales on their bodies with more prominent ones the arms and legs; sporting short claws as well as a slight muzzle. Humanoid members possess unmistakable full body scales, longer thicker claws on often digit-grade feet, and prominent muzzles.

These scales are usually come in either grayish green or earthen tones save for a patch of lighter off white or beige from their jaws down to their crotch when full body coverage occurs. A Komortar’s eyes are constantly aglow some sort of fiery color and brighten if she is feeling a strong emotion. Both sides of the spectrum will sometimes have horns that either curl from the back of their heads to the front or start from the forehead and curve upward, and a tail that’s about the same size as the pokégirl’s arm; these horns are more common in individuals evolved from the Hotgoblina breed, or thresholders with stronger dragon ancestry. Hair colors run the gamut of human norms, trending towards darker colors.

Most Komortars are surprisingly placid for a pokégirl of their stature, and a fire element breed. This does not generally mean that they are submissive; it just means they will be much more likely to calmly refuse to be put upon by others. This relaxed yet obstinate mindset has led to a rather interesting dynamic in the harem setting. While they normally do not actively seek the position of Alpha, they may be found making suggestions about how she and her sisters should be governed, but as with most pokégirls there are exceptions. A growing number of Komortars being studied have shown more generally meek demeanors, being quiet and even shy in the company of strangers.

Researchers have found that Komortars are generally easier to deal with and cultivate loyalty thereof if their tamer gives them a task or goal to complete “- something to shoot for.” as one Researcher had phrased it. This can be something as literal as an actual target, to as ideological as their own improvement as an individual. So long as the Komortar feels they can accomplish it, and better still, that her tamer can assist them in this that a Komortar will begin to be more accepting of their tamer’s suggestions and wants. It is not advised to place a Komortar in the same harem as a pokégirl who enjoys being the dominant personality outside of the bedroom, as they will sometimes find that a Komortar does have limits to her (perceived) patience.

Komortars’ primary choice of attack is naturally made bombs which they produce during digestion. These bombs can house a variety of contents from lava, to Napalm, to smoke, to shrapnel-like pebbles. To make their bombs, they consume large amounts of rocks, which is why they prefer to be in mountainous areas. The rocks are smelted inside the Komortar's second stomach, (which is essentially an internal furnace) shaped into rough spheres and filled with pressurized contents such as those listed above. They are then stored in a subspace pocket for later use, and disgorged from the Komortar's mouth with as much force as needed (or can be mustered, in the case of aiming at the end of their range).

They are always aware of the exact count of completed bombs they posses, even when feral. Tame Komortars are fairly accurate with their targeting; able to calculate wind resistance, approximate target range, trajectory, and other factors quickly; ferals tend to have a marked decrease in accuracy usually from failing to lead their targets. This method of attack is aided by their augmented sight, allowing them to identify (and hit in most cases) targets anywhere from 600 to 750 meters (~ 656-820 feet) away at the furthest recorded. Their bombs are better suited for anywhere from a half to a third of that distance against moving targets.

Most novice Tamers make the mistake of thinking the Komortar is purely a ranged fighter. Although her preferred method of attack is her natural explosives, she is surprisingly capable at close range, using Napalm and Bray to herd her opponents and close distance to attack with her claws or tail. Unfortunately for all their power, Komortars are rather slow and large targets for breeds with elemental advantages; so it is best for them to stay at a distance against such opponents. Although Komortars do know sex techniques, they are normally suited best for larger battles like Grand Melee, where they can pick off the opponents without being pressured by many attackers.

Unlike her previous forms, the Komortar has no health related aversion to water, so long as she isn’t in the process of producing bombs. As a matter of fact Tamers are advised to allow the pokégirl to take a hot bath before a taming, as this relaxes her body and makes her more sensitive to physical stimuli. Aside from that, the breed is pretty variable in most of their interests; with a marked like of belly rubs and post-taming cuddling noted amongst a fair portion of those who submitted information to the various studies over the years. They are roughly split on the roles of dominance and submission; some preferring to have control of the taming with others being dissonantly modest or even skittish about the subject.

Thankfully, Komortars generally have or can easily learn to restrain their strength when taming, allowing them to be tamed without restraints. This does not apply to feral Komortar, who should be put in restraints for their first several tamings until they acclimate to higher thought and the concept of limiting their physical strength. Either way it is not recommended for the breed to stay on top for too long, as they are rather heavy even without a store of stones being processed for bombs.

It is advised that a pregnant Komortar reduce her mineral intake in favor of meats during that period both to ensure a healthy gestation and to prevent complications during the last trimester. If a Komortar has a large enough stockpile of stone during delivery, it can cause potentially life threatening lack of space for the muscles to move in, which is almost fatal for any human births and rather dangerous for most pokekits. If her child(ren) is(are) safely birthed, a Komortar will prove to be a good, albeit strict mother in most instances.

An interesting facet of the Komortar’s bomb creation ability was discovered some time after the breed began seeing regular use by Tamers. A Tradesman was hoping to get rich quick by feeding his Cockatrix slag that he had purchased from various mining companies on his travels. After finally managing to produce some viable eggs made primarily of silver, he found that they had disappeared. The Tradesman was mortified a day later to see his Kormortar fire the first silver bomb casings at the ferals that had woken his group up.

Researchers began studying the extent of this ability and made a startling discovery. If a Komortar ingests a booster item such as a Kunzite or Tsavorite (any will work, and are all listed in Equipment guides available at most pokecenters), that a Komortar’s bombs will be imbued with that booster item’s element. This can be accomplished by either making the shell out of a portion of the booster item, or mixing it into the contents. Each item is good for about 3 to 5 bombs worth of power before the material is used up or digested. If a tamer can afford to purchase these items, they may find this a worthwhile investment when they are in a pinch. Evolution stones can be used to similar effect, but usually cause indigestion and yield a weaker product both structurally and functionally.

Due to the breed’s strength and her skill with explosives, Tamers and Tradesmen are often monitored in some Leagues. Those Leagues also usually require those people to undergo psychiatric evaluation to confirm that they won’t allow or worse, command a Komortar to commit acts against the League or its residents. This was instituted after their use by criminal elements such as Team Scorcher, which along with other reports of violence have caused a resurgence of the breed’s bad reputation.

Ferals of the breed tend to keep to themselves, often found living in deep, dark caves that they hollow out over the years; though sightings on the mountainsides of various Leagues have been recorded. Though they are hostile to trespassers, they rarely kill the intruder unless they are low on fluids, at which point they will begin emitting smoke from their mouths semi-regularly. They will first use Bray or loose weaker bombs to drive the intruder away, using stronger bombs if the intruder remains or has attacked them. When hunting for meat they will use bombs to hinder the prey’s escape and close for Diamond Tooth, devouring nearly anything they get their jaw around in this fashion. Due to their durability, they can survive surprisingly well if cave-ins or rock slides occur, and will simply eat their way through any roadblocks created by their attacks.

Capturing ferals of this breed is a difficult task, but not impossible. If fighting her at range, employ a faster pokégirl to avoid her bombs or a durable one to weather through them, preferably one with enhanced strength or access to water and ground attacks. If such pokégirls aren’t available, there is still hope. Komortars are no less immune to their explosives than the majority of their targets outside of their durability, and the noises they make can easily disorient the feral if the bomb detonates too close to them. Most ferals won’t close unless forced to or hungry, which can leave them at the mercy of their own weapons. This has lead to a phrase amongst Tamers to the effect of, “going to bomb a Dodongo.” which roughly translates to, “doing something risky in hopes of the reward.”

Komortar Thresholds are extremely rare, as the breed hasn’t found its way into many bloodlines as of 300 AS. Of those cases documented, the event was described as rather painful. The body grows rapidly and the skin begins hardening into tough scales. Lower backaches and occasionally headaches occur as the tail and horns, if any begin to grow. Thresholders may suffer vision problems during the change in eyesight. All of this is accompanied by a spike in appetite made worse by near constant heartburn as the second stomach develops and finishes with the changes in the jaw’s structure. The entire process can take anywhere from two weeks to a month and a half.
