Many stories came about during the war of large, multi-armed “monsters” with elongated snake or eel-like lower bodies that would decimate soldiers that camped too close to rivers and other bodies of water. These brightly colored pokégirls, which later became known as Maryliths, were known to be able to create their own small armies out of the very oceans and rivers themselves. From Sukebe’s notes it was found that these pokégirls were designed to use their hydrokinetic abilities to create their own troops to command in battle, supporting their creations from afar with their electric attacks. These pokégirls, similar to the now known Puppeteer and the Dollmaster breeds, were their own one pokégirl army. After the war, the breed seemed to disappear into legends until 35 AS when a tamer and his harem disturbed a pair of Maryliths while fishing in the wilderness of the slot league. The surprised tamer and his harem managed to catch both specimens. It was only then that it was discovered that, unlike what some have claimed in the years before their rediscovery, they are actually serpents completely covered in fine scales and not eels as some had previously claimed. None the less, the name has stuck in certain parts of the world.

Even at first glance the Marylith is decidedly not very human-like in appearance. While their faces are human shaped and lack any kind of noticeable muzzle, their bodies are covered from their head to tail in smooth, shining scales. These scales are much smaller and finer around their breasts, face, and vagina, and possess an almost skin-like texture in these places. In between these scales, trailing along their sides and down their backs, there are a series of bioluminescent markings which are most often of a yellow, orange, or red color. These markings flash when the pokégirl is irritated or about to attack with an electric technique. Often reaching between 5 and 8 meters in length, their lower bodes are similar to other snake like breeds which starts just under their vagina. Which, while similar in appearance to that of a human's, is completely forward facing and in the area of a human woman's mons pubis. This is where the comparison to other breeds ends. Instead of the usual snake-like tails that most serpent pokégirls have, the Marylith’s tail ends in a large scaly paddle arranged in an up-down manner similar to that of a sea snake. The Voltaic torrent pokégirl is also different from other serpentine breeds in that they have a total of three pairs of arms, each ending in a pair of hands that resemble those of humans and other very near human breeds. Maryliths are often brightly colored, with hair and scale colors coming in many bright colors such as red, blue, or even white. Since the end of the revenge war, these bright colorations and bioluminescent markings are thought to act similar to the aposematic warning colors of many animal species and are used by ferals to warn predators away. This is because the blood of a Marylith is highly toxic to ingest and is a also mild skin irritant. Most biting and slashing attacks are considered dangerous to use against this breed and are not advised unless the pokégirl in question has some form of intoxicant immunity or resistance.

In battle, Maryliths tend to prefer to let their water slaves and water golems do most of the frontline fighting. Preferring to stick in the back and use their electric abilities from a distance. The breed has the ability to summon water from seemingly nowhere and use their hydrokinetic abilities to control it with high accuracy. While their ability to summon water and pull it directly from the ground allows them to be fully capable even on land, they still have some trouble preventing their summoned minions from evaporating under high heat from either a hot, arid desert or from the heat of a fire type. Another side effect of the breed being able to summon water at will is the breed’s tendency to use the technique tidal slide anywhere where they don’t have to worry about causing water damage. Because of the effects of tidal slide, the breed is able to make use of their high swimming speed even when far away from a body of water.

The amount of water creations a Marylith can create and control depends on the environment and the experience of the pokégirl. Young members of this breed, unless directly fed by a large body of water, can only create and control one or two of their water creations at most. As they grow in power they become able to be less dependent on bodies of water and are able to control more powerful water summons. Even then, when reaching the limits of their hydrokinetic abilities, the breed becomes less and less able to fight in tandem with their creations. These limits vary between individuals but it has been found that generally even very experienced Maryliths tend to have trouble controlling more than six or seven of their lower powered creations, typically water slaves and water golems. As their creations become more and more complex they require more and more concentration to control. Typically, most are unable to control more than one or two water gods at a time. Because of the drain on their bodies, unless backed up by other harem members, many prefer to stay well below these limits and instead make up for the lack of numbers with their speed and stronger electric techniques. If caught by surprise or in a situation where their creations have been destroyed the breed isn’t totally helpless at close range. As a last resort the breed has a tendency to switch to using their various elemental blade techniques. With access to both lighting body and rime they are able to mount a decent defense even when their enhanced speed fails.

In a harem setting the Marylith can be described as intense. The breed tends to give their all into whatever it is they are doing. They Fight hard, love hard, and tame hard. As such, they have a tendency to overreact in situations they aren’t familiar with. It is advised that tamers watch them, especially in delicate situations, as they tend to attack first and ask questions later. This intense personality transfers over to the bedroom. While the taming habits of this breed vary greatly, one thing that tends to be a common factor is intimacy. The breed enjoys full body contact before and during the act, not only using their coils but their multiple arms to wrap their tamers up and hold them close. Another fetish common to many Maryliths is a great love of kissing and oral contact. This oral fixation includes oral sex, which is an act a great many of this breed tend to favor emphatically. Unlike some of the more common snake based breeds, many Maryliths are heavily heterosexual in their leanings. A select few even go so far as to refuse to have sex when a woman is involved, sometimes causing issues for larger harems that rely on intra-harem tamings to ease the burdens of a tight taming schedule.

When feral, the intensity of their tamed state tends to bleed through and is often amplified multiple times. Feral Marylith are terrors when they feel threatened, often not stopping their assaults until the intruder is either dead or they themselves are incapacitated. Luckily, their hydrokinetic powers are dampened when feral. Most are only able to use their weaker water and electric attacks. Using either rime or lightning body, ferals prefer to get in close and use their coils and multiple arms to kill any humans or pokégirls that enter their territory. Threshold is still fairly rare but is becoming more common in coastal areas in most leagues. As threshold begins the first thing most notice is a pain in their sides as their extra arms grow in. Within the first week thresholders are usually terrified as their human skin is sloughed off, leaving their entire bodies covered in fine snake-like scales. Within the next couple of weeks their legs begin to fuse together and elongate, leaving them with a fully developed tail in the place of their legs.
