The Pollita was without a doubt a useful asset in the war. The small, fast and hardy Pokégirl could rush into the fray relatively swiftly to heal their allies, and the leave. However, they were too focused on healing and evasion for what was at times required in the war. If they were unable to reach an injured Pokégirl due to there being too many enemies, the Pollita would try to find another way rather than fight through them, and would at times go a ways out of their way to avoid getting in a fight, which took time, time that was often too long for their injured companions. To correct this issue, Sukebe created the Mamaripede.

Whereas the Pollita is a cute, adorable Pokégirl, the Mamaripede is a lovely one. Mamaripedes almost always have very dark, lustrous hair, which most members of the breed prefer to let grow as long as their Tamers permit. Their eyes are closer in appearance to the human norm, but often come in darker colors and are more reflective. The shell along their back changes as well, with each of the segments becoming thinner and closer together. Their shell also becomes shinier and glossier, which along with their hair and eyes tend to make Mamaripedes shine under bright light. Their chests only grow slightly in size, to an average of a large C cup, but they grow taller by more than six inches. The antenna they had as Pollita grow in length, and are often swept back behind them to stay out of their face. The overall effect is of a Pokégirl more lovely than cute, and many Mamaripedes have a somewhat commanding presence.

Mamaripedes were created to be more combat-capable healers than the nonviolent Pollita could ever be. To make them more effective for combat, the Mamaripede has a much more dense and solid internal body structure, and thus cannot compress themselves into a small ball like the Pollita can, and therefore are not so speedy as the smaller Bug-type is. They make up for their reduced speed not only with power and defense, but also with their ability to transform into a larger battle form. In this form, The Mamaripede’s lower body turns into a long series of thin segments. The exact details of a Mamaripede’s appearance in her tauric body differs from Pokégirl to Pokégirl. One Mamaripede may have segments two feet in length, while another’s may be only inches long. Their lower body is usually about as wide as their waist, but even that sometimes varies. Mamaripedes , from their head to their last pair of legs, range from ten to fourteen feet long. Because the width of the segments varies so much, it is difficult to ascertain a standard number of legs for the breed, but every segment of the body possesses two pairs of legs that vary in length from Mamaripede to Mamaripede. What is common for every member of the breed is that their carapace is a metallic shade of black, and glistens in the light. Mamaripedes often like to polish themselves, to ensure they remain as shiny as possible. Their upper body is covered in their carapace as well, in metal sections that are of the same width as the segments that make up their metallic lower body. These cover all of their upper body but the head.

Another change that came with their evolution is their increased healing abilities. Mamaripedes now have access to the potent Royal Honey and White Wind attacks, both of which are powerful healing powers. They also retain the pill-making ability they possessed as Pollita, but greater than it had ever been before. The glands the Pollita used to solidify the Honey are more advanced and discriminating in the Mamaripede, allowing them to make pills that use their Royal and Sweet Honey techniques as well. However, the production of these is a conscious, rather than autonomic, action. A newfound ability they now possess also relates to their greater control over their pill production. When consciously creating a pill, rather than using a more powerful Honey technique, a Mamaripede can now grant an additional healing effect to their pill, granting it the ability to remove one status ailment when consumed.

While those abilities alone would make the Mamaripede a valued addition to almost any harem, the breed is also known for their greater combat abilities. With their increased power and their new Steel typing, the Mamaripede is capable of shrugging off many attacks of weak or average power; even so, defense is very important to the breed, and even with their already strong defense they generally start combat with Harden, Iron Defense, or Dark Shield. A Mamaripede’s tactics are generally very simple; they charge in headfirst, and try to crush their enemy, trusting to their defense and healing abilities to keep them alive. Moves such as Iron Wrap, Hard Drive, and Takedown are what they prefer to use, as they allow them to bring down the enemy hard and fast; they strive to end combat swiftly, not liking it anymore than they did before evolving, despite their combat abilities. Even more so than before, Mamaripede’s excel at team battles, as their defensive and offensive powers allow them to join the fray with their ally, which in turn makes them be closer for when they need to heal their companion.

Mamaripedes can make for skilled Alphas. They retain their caring nature from their time as Pollitas, and will devote hours upon hours of effort to ensure that her dear companions remain at their best. Because they still dislike conflict, Mamaripedes work hard to ensure that their Tamer’s harem flows smoothly and without violence between harem-sisters. They often get along well with their fellow members of the harem, and make for very reliable additions for any Tamer’s harem.

Thresholding into a Mamaripede is almost painless, which is a curiosity considering how agonizing it is for a Pollita to Threshold. This is believed to be due to the increased healing abilities of the Mamaripede. Nevertheless, it can still be a traumatizing event, especially for the one out of four Thresholders who first Threshold into the tauric shape, rather than the humanoid one. Even if it does not cause pain, it is still incredibly disturbing, the sensation of the internal organs placing themselves into an alien arrangement as a hard shell forms around the body.

With their increased confidence and maturity, Mamaripedes are less likely to desire to be the submissive in the Taming room than they were are Pollita. They enjoy positions that display their body, which they are rather proud of, although they are not fond of public sex. The prefer to be Tamed in a well-lighted room with mirrors, so they can watch the light shine off their hair, eyes, and back. They are no more effective in sex battles than they were before evolving; the only advantage they obtain is their increased endurance.

Feral Mamaripedes are only slightly more dangerous than a Feral Pollita. When confronted, they will generally try to run away, using their protective abilities non-stop. However, unlike a Pollita, they will strike back if pressed too hard. Even when Feral Mamaripedes care for those around them, and the Ferals in the vicinity of a Mamaripede are generally very fit and healthy. As such, Mamaripedes are rarely targeted as food by their fellow Ferals.
