In modern times, Vixxens are depicted in media as a pokegirl breed who will sleep with anyone, anywhere, at the drop of a hat. Though this does accurately portray some members of the breed, these 'always horny' fox types are usually able to learn self control fairly quickly. This slutty stereotype is also a far cry of the breed's war era reputation, one of a fiery ball of death to their enemies, or that of a sadistic rapist who burned and violated their victims. Considering the two stereotypes side by side, it seems the modern one is much more friendly to the breed.

Vixxens range in height from 4' 10'' to 5' 9'' (1.47 - 1.75 meters), which mean those that evolved from Kitsune may gain a few inches or none at all. With a wide range of anthropomorphism, this flaming fox breed can showcase the various sliding scale of the Near Human body type, and also dips into the Not Very Near Human range. Those with the most animal features have full body fur, muzzles, digigrade feet, long busy tails, and vulpine ears -basically resembling an anthropomorphic fox. Fox species represented are usually those of temperate climates, and thus the breed is known for those colorations. The most prolific coloration is the classic red fox, that of a red pelt with black 'socks' over the hands and feet, cream 'underbelly', and a white tip to the tail (obviously, this is not apparent on those without fur or with only partial body fur). Those with the least anthropomorphic traits simply have ears, tails, and claws to note them as pokegirls. Those evolved from Kitsune usually do not change much in their overall appearance. Hair colors are noted to be reds and browns, though now orange, yellow, and other 'fire' colors are more common.

Horny as a Vixxen goes the saying, and that is the most widely reported character feature of these passionate fox pokegirls. The breed is stereotyped as rarely understanding why their tamers don't like public sex or even sex in the middle of a battle. This stereotype is often proved wrong with the breed, as these vulpine pokegirls have just as much potential for self control as humans do. However there are some interviews and psychic scans that suggest some individuals will play up the stereotype to their advantage. These fire types also have been reported to be temperamental, and sometimes violent when angered. While the breed overall has the potential to have the same self control as humans do, there have been notable instances of the breed using their fire abilities while angered. Vixxens should be taken on an individual basis when assigning positions of responsibility within a harem.

Known for being a contender in both martial and sex battles, so long as elemental typing is taken into account. In martial battles, the breed tends to attack from range to wear down opponents, keeping her body aflame with Ignite to deter any close quarters combat. The breed can also counter other fire types, due to their ability to absorb fire techniques. Sex battles showcase the breed's overall endurance and high pleasure threshold, and they often combine their various sexual techniques for added effect.

Taming habits with the breed do follow along the lines of the breed always being ready, though most do learn some measure of self control. Most members of the breed are experimental in the bedroom, and usually find their likes and dislikes (those who evolved from Kitsune tend to carry over their preferences. Like most pokegirls, the breed grows in power and skill with age, though with Vixxens this tends to show more dramatically. Older Vixxens are often referred to as Foxxes, and this term becomes almost universal once the breed becomes a pokewoman. It seems that maturity in personality followed by physical maturity is a common denominator in the change in nomenclature.

Feral Vixxens are sometimes solitary, though the breed can often be found leading small groups of Kitsune. They hunt alone, and are opportunistic feeders, usually catching small prey and/or browsing fruits or vegetation before returning to a communal den. When faced with a large force, most ferals use Ignite both as a visual threat display and a physical contact deterrent. Tamers looking to capture feral Vixxens should utilize type advantages, and when taming a capture for the first time, either employ submersion or paraspray due to the possibility of the feral igniting herself mid-taming.

Though threshold for human girls with fox lineage typically results in Kitsune, direct threshold into a Vixxen is documented frequently. High fevers are a typical first syndrome, followed by physical changes that are usually accompanied by typical discomfort such as dermatitis for fur growth, or back aches for tail growth. Threshold usually lasts longer for more anthropomorphic individuals, though the overall time is relatively short at 3-5 days. Newly thresholded members of the breed are usually placed into ranches, sold into trades such as metalwork, or even sold abroad to colder climate leagues for heating purposes.
